Lakers Honor HOF Michael Cooper at Halftime

The Lakers honored Michael Cooper for his recent HOF induction at halftime of game 3 of NBA Playoffs against the Denver Nuggets. The ceremony consisted in a highlights video and speeches of his Showtime teammates James Worthy, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, including Byron Scott, Jamaal Wilkes, A.C. I was lucky enough to have Michael Cooper as our spokesperson for our City of Hope 10K run fundraiser. I have two pictures of him and me. That was in the mid-80s.
I remember putting my arm around him and saying, : "You are SO thin!" And he replied, " Slender." I love that guy!

Been a fan of Michael Cooper since he was a Lobo. In fact, he would come back to New Mexico and hold basketball camps called “Coop Camp” and I had the pleasure of designing the programs for his camp as a young graphic designer. I met Michael many years later at a party in Los Angeles and he was such a nice guy. In fact, we introduced him to a friend of ours and I think they actually dated for awhile. I think Coop needs to get together with James Worthy and be the new Laker head coaches… that would be something! Time to bring back the winning Laker traditions! Congratulations Michael!

Stats don’t do Coop justice. The impact he had on those Showtime teams was immeasurable. He could always be relied on to come off the bench and provide instant energy. He’d guard the other team’s biggest perimeter threat, was ahead of his time the way he could shoot the 3, and can’t forget his and Magic’s trademark Coop-A-Loop.

I called it w/ work buddies 4yrs....the young guys were saying Dray Green should b a hall of farmer. I chime n, not b4 Lakers Mike Cooper. They laughed at me & said Coop was from the olden days. Then I encouraged them 2 do their YouTube homework on him. Took them 3 days & they said ok maybe you're right....
