I am so printing these, my primary hobby is knifemaking and have had a hard time taking pictures of them, this will help a lot.

Great video, Jessy. I do MISS your FDM content so thanks for throwing in a little bit for us that did not be get into resin. Also, GREAT to see your finishing skills get some screen time. I don't mind seeing the raw prints but I forgot how great your finishing looked. Super job.

Great tutorial and very nice results! Always great to have a setup where you can customize the background and control the lighting!

Jessy this is so freaking awesome, I have been finding it a little difficult to get some backgrounds to sit up when taking thumbnails for videos. Once my current print is done I will print them on my Ender 5 plus, might have to do multiple just because it is always good having backups. Thank you!

The photos and videos look great with the background. What an easy setup. Thanks for the tip!

Wish I had seen this before I made my husband install an IKEA window shade (yes!) in front of my work bench. I just roll that sucker down like it's school picture time! I think I was using something like that first paper holder, a real PITA to get set up. But I've also used tri-fold display cardboard (like for science fair), poster board propped on a tool box, and a roll of shelf liner. The nice thing is whenever a kid has needed posterboard for a class project they can go raid mom's photo supplies.

As a professional product photographer, a few points:

1) I use continuous paper in rolls for most of my photography. The big name in the business is Savage, which can be found at most photography stores in a variety of colors.
2) Continuous paper gets scuffed and creased a lot; be prepared to replace it regularly. (This is why I get rolls.) Before replacing, remember that you can use both sides of the paper.
3) For miniatures photography, you generally don't want to use a photo box, because they're designed to bring light in from the top. For minis, you want light from the front.
4) Watch out for your exposure. With light backgrounds on an automatic exposure mode, the camera will "correct" for the brightness and underexpose. (I'm seeing this in a lot of cases here.) Dark backgrounds will give you overexposure.
5) Cameras also "correct" for color casts, so if you use strongly colored backgrounds, you'll want to include a neutral reference so you can "uncorrect".
6) Short focal length lenses (specifically including many camera phone lenses) have a deeper depth of field (welcome to optical physics). If you're having problems with depth of field, try your camera instead of your DSLR.

This was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I have been taping the paper to a bookshelf and it just causes the paper to have tons of tape on it and takes forever to assemble. I am printing this ASAP

These are so key for taking pictures of 3D prints, especially minis! I built one a few years ago for eBay listings and miniatures (3D printed). I love the clamps on this file though, so I may have to try it out.

Your paint job actually turned out really great, you should keep painting.

Fantastic idea! Thanks so much for this video. Going off to print some soon. They look so easy to use. Husband paints Warhammer figures and I do cosplay props. We have a photo box however he is finding his army is already getting too big to take group photos. This might give us another option. Also love the different lighting options.

as "the miniatures person" of my group, people ask me this more than anything else:
How do you get those pictures?

I love your janky first gen version but I was so relieved to see the upgraded version tbh

You could replace the colored cardstock with a diffusor panel and then put an LED strip behind it for soft, colored, backlighting if you were so inclined.

You have the chaos core tech link for Wesker's pateron too.

Nice video, you could also buy some grey paper as a neutral backdrop. With colored lights you can get great results.

I'd like to know how you time-lapse your resin printing. It's smooth.

I need to try and find a way to do this for the 1/4 scale pieces I make and paint. Right now Im having to use cloth backdrops.
