Welcome to the world of Bare Knuckle Boot Camp. Boot Camp is a stripped back, no-nonsense pickup range aimed at guitar players of all levels who just want to cut to the chase and have great tone.

You are watching/listening to the incredible True Grit Humbuckers from the Boot Camp range. These pickups have a medium output with plenty of Clarity and Punch.

Throughout the video I utilise each pickup configuration available. The pickups enable an extremely diverse tonal spectrum from the guitar alone. Beautiful open sounding tones which enable dynamics to shine through with ease.

Thanks for watching.

This video introduced me to the Bare Knuckle Pickups world. After watching it, I purchased a HSS set for my Strat. Thanks, Danny!

Really amazing guitarwork here! 👌👌 Just got a True Grit bridge model with F-spacing that's going in my HSS-strat, can't wait to try it out after hearing how good they sound in your video! 😁

When I first hit play I was like "damn I didn't know Steven Wilson played BK pickups...."

I bought one for the neck of my Michael Kelley Patriot Shadow, which has nice humbuckers.
The True Grit is being marketed as "medium output", but they're pretty hot if you ask me. Being used to overwound PAF style pickups (around 9k) I really miss some of the dynamics I used to have. Especially in single coil mode, I preferred the MK pup, which sounded more lively.
Low frequencies are definetely better defined than the MK pickups, which sounded a little boomey in humbucker mode.

In terms of note definition the True grit is up there with the duncans and diMarzio's, but when it comes to flavor, they sound a bit generic to me. Acoustically, my guitar sounds very bright for a mahogany. The pup has a pronounced mid bump, and together they have a bit of a nasal quality, not what I was after.

Hi !! Great demo. For what it looks like these pickups have a rounder top end and spongier but not muddy low end. Good crunch and clarity. Would you say these are closer to the Abraxas, specially the bridge pickup ? Thanks

Nice demo! Could you give a little info about your signal chain for some context? Not many demos or spec info out there, but I went ahead and ordered a set anyway to replace stock pups in a PRS S2 Singlecut. Should have them soon. I already have a Mule set in a LP and a Juggernaut set in an Explorer, both of which sound incredible. Where do you think they would fit within that spectrum? closer to the Mules or the Juggernauts? Thanks

Im super impressed by these. do you think these would be ok in a fairly bright custom 22 in drop B tuning? I've tried a shit ton of pickups always go back to stock alnico dragon IIs. Tried duncan customer (ceramic), dragon I (ceramic), all kinds of DM pickups - most sound sterile and brash and I love this fullness that you got!
Let me know if you still have these a year later :). thanks! great playing!

Do they resemble to any S Duncan? Just to have some reference. I like them! They are bassy

Superb review man! Great!
Do you recommend these pickups? I'm between them and the Rebel Yell, but afraid the RY would be too strong for my taste. They will go into a PRS Singlecut, similar to yours. By the way, did you split the coils when you play the solo, at around 0:50? Sounds very clean and "singlecoily". Cheers mate! Check my channel if you have a chance.

Ended up with a True Grit bridge humbucker on my Yamaha Revstar... and a bit disappointed... lacks character imo, as I was afraid it would be because of the way it was marketed... also not enough bottom end and a bit too dark on this particular guitar for me. I don't hear any of the grit. These last points may be guitar specific issues though.

I have an sg like guitar with high output pickups... i am between this and the old guard. I am just scared the true grit have too much output. What do you think?

Hey dude, are these true grit in both neck and bridge? Were you playing on the neck or bridge for most of the vid? And are you in standard tuning? Cheers
