Love skylights, but man, this kinda changes my mood on skylights a bit.

That hail knew what it was doing when it aimed for that skylight

I was in a crazy hale storm once in Virginia back in the '80s. It was during lunch at school and there were four long rows of tables. They had to move us to the inner two rows because the glass from the high windows was falling all over the outer two rows. There were golf ball to baseball sized hale all over the ground when it was over. Every car that was not in a garage had damage throughout the town. I'm just glad I wasn't caught outside during that storm.

Hail is my largest worry with our sky light, 28 years so far so good.

Oh my gracious...
Hail across the globe is becoming larger and denser...
I enjoyed your humour
"...got ice in the house now..."
despite the circumstances...
Scary weather...

That's why it is okay that when you install your tunnel skylights.Offset the roof inlet from the interior outlet. That way if this happens again the ice will end up in the attic not in your house. They do give you enough of the piping to trim it for the length.

Wow, we lived there for 3 years and never had that happen.

We were also too OK we got hit by the health storm as well but luckily our roof shingles are metal so we didn’t get damaged but our windows did the other now. I’m glad that everyone was OK.

OMGOODNESS!!! Send us some hail over to west Texas in El Paso! We’re sooo dry! No rain! A week ago we had our 3rd brownout of the season! We had 60mph winds, couldn’t see the sun, and visibility was down to a blocks distance! Everything was brown and this brownish, grayish dust penetrated through the tiniest crack! You could smell and even taste the dust!!! It was awful and wasn’t the first dust storm of the spring and spring hadn’t even begun!!! We’re praying for rain and I’d take hail over our awful, terrible dust that I’m still trying to clean up after!!!🕊️

I feel soooo sorry for the horses, donkeys, goats etc that were stuck outside with no protection. 😢

Hail is no joke. It can injure people and animals or worse. The speed at which their things are traveling is pretty scary.

Wow! Like golf balls but heavy! They could kill a person or an animal!

We have been getting softball sized hail here in Wyoming for the last few years. It did trillions of dollars in damages.

I remember hail this big in Colorado Springs in 2016. Smashed windshields in seconds. So much damage to homes and vehicles.

Bicycling in hail like this feels like Sgt. Elias being shot in Platoon

Skylights should have two layers. My first layer got cracked during a storm but the second layer survived. All I had to do is to replace the skylight, with no interior damage to the home to deal with.
