For decades, nuclear power has provided Americans with safe, clean, and affordable energy. Significant public and private investments in the industry have resulted in an increasing number of enterprises committed to bringing Americans even better and more affordable options. Despite this, nuclear energy expansion in the U.S. is occurring at a frustratingly slow pace, with those in its favor calling for major regulatory reform.

What happened that made building new reactors so difficult? What commonsense reforms could help kickstart an American nuclear renaissance? How can policymakers think outside-the-box when it comes to nuclear energy regulations?

American Nuclear Society CEO Craig Piercy and former Commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Jeffrey Merrifield discuss these pressing questions and more as they join Heritage’s Jack Spencer.

I studied energy science in JMU’s ISAT program so this is right down my alley :)

I hate to be critical on such a topical subject needing our attention, but neither of the speakers was able to shed much light on the well structured questions.

A very educational discussion on Nuclear Energy and nuclear regulations much needed. My question is with Europe closing Nuclear plants will America continue to pursue Nuclear Energy and if so why the US approach differs from Europe in terms of closing their Nuclear Plants.
