When Ford and GM say there is no demand for EV's they mean there is no demad for THEIR EV's.

2.8 million cars sold in the US in 2021. 100 thousand is about 3.4% of that total. Dealer lots are full of EVs looking for a home. Google days of inventory to get a clear picture.

Yet CNBS continues to report that EV demand is non existent.

We've had our first Bev since march 2022, base model 3. It's been a great experience and after 82, 000 km we've decided to replace our 2nd vehicle in spring 2024 to a Bev (Model Y). No more ICE.

I heard GM is working on a time machine so they can go back to 2002 and NOT crush all the EV1 electric cars.

I'd like to know where all these upbeat figures come from, because if its from a captured authority then that are as reliable as the clot shot numbers were.

I'm all-in on EV. I currently drive a plug-in hybrid, and the vast majority of driving is EV mode.
Unless I take a road-trip, a full tank of gas can last me the better part of a full year!
I expect to keep it until it drops, or until some texting/distracted driver crashes into me and totals it...
By the time I'm ready to buy a full-EV, maybe 2030, I expect the battery technology to be vastly improved and range to be 600 miles minimum on a full charge.

Telsa in the US
have affordable desirable BEVs with the best charging network and low total cost of ownership than a ICE car equivalent.
It is a no brainer consumers are voting with their feet before the more expensive models go into production.

The US power grid cannot sustain more EVs

Several hundred thousand of US EV sales are to rental companies, not “real “ buyers.

I guess the most generous interpretation of legacy industry comments is that there is not enough EV demand for them to make a profit.

Is this because people purchasing before the rule changes, surrounding the $7, 500 federal tax credits for electric vehicles are changing on Jan. 1? Apparently Tesla is now warning customers on its website that some of its vehicles will no longer qualify for the full $7, 500 credit. According to Tesla, the Model 3 rear-wheel drive (RWD cheapest model) and the Model 3 long-range options will only qualify for $3, 750 in tax credits, rather than the full $7, 500 credit, because some of their components come from China.

Hi Sam,

thank you.

You definitely can't deny the facts, as each EV gets sold 10 neighbours come around asking questions, some will be negative but it appears more people are positive about EV, this year 2024 will consolidate the growth.

Great posts

Great video, here is a summary
U.S. EV Sales Surge in October and November:

EV sales in the United States surpassed 100, 000 units for the second time in history during October.
Tesla's EV sales doubled year-over-year in October, despite not having the new Model Y and Model 3 available in the U.S. yet.
November also marked another historic month with over 100, 000 electric cars registered in the U.S.
Contradiction to Reports of Slowdown:

Despite claims of a slowdown in electric vehicle (EV) sales by some automakers like Ford and General Motors, new registration data indicates a 60% growth in EV registrations during the first 10 months of 2023 compared to the previous year.
Percentage of EVs in Total Car Sales:

EVs accounted for 7.4% of all cars sold, up from 5.5% in the same period in 2022, challenging the narrative of a slowdown in EV adoption.
Tesla Dominates the Market:

Tesla remains the dominant force, comprising 56.3% of the 540, 000 EVs sold in the U.S. from January to October.
Non-Tesla EVs, including those from Ford, Hyundai, and others, have seen a remarkable 96% growth this year.
Top EV Brands and Models:

Top EV brands in the U.S. from January to October include Tesla, Chevrolet, Ford, and Hyundai, with Tesla Model Y leading the models, followed by Model 3, Chevrolet Bolt EV, and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
The luxury car EV sector is experiencing astronomical growth, suggesting a potential shift where EVs could dominate the luxury segment within the next few years.

Rivian simply cannot build cars fast enough. There are people who have been waiting over 2 years who still have not received their R1s yet.

But most of that growth is with Tesla. Until the SAE J3400 (Tesla NACS) charging plug becomes universal on all EV's sold in the USA, Tesla will be driving most EV sales growth. I expect Hyundai/Kia to be a big player in the EV market in the USA, especially once the smaller EV models arrive within the next few years.

Sam, I agree with your assessment! I believe the adoption of less expensive EV's will take place rapidly, once we see compelling vehicles in the $25K-$35K range, i.e., the VW ID 2.0 All and the small Tesla.

Great point, first luxury then trickle down. I expect the trickle to quickly become a raging torrent with the US lagging behind despite Tesla. Two factors in US. Media bias and legacy auto afraid or unable to jump into the deep end of the pool like Tesla and Chinese companies have done.
