A dagger like that meant for stabbing actually exist in medieval times called stiletto (No, not the knife. A dagger. Something that is pointy and meant for stabbing. Medieval era.). Those types of daggers are meant to pierce a cloth much more thicker than what we wear everyday in the 21st century right through the heart so yeah, Yor thorn's are pretty much a great and realistic weapon to use by an assassin.
