Hey Solly,

Have you seen any of the older Japanese Godzilla films? Some of the effects still hold up. They're pretty funny too. Pluto TV has a Godzilla channel that shows nothing but classic Godzilla films.

How about Godzilla (1998)? I believe it was the first American made Godzilla film. 16 years before Godzilla (2014). It did okay at the box office but, was hated by critics and the public.

It was directed by Roland Emmerich. He made big budget action and disaster movies like Independence Day (1996) and The Day After Tomorrow (2004). If you haven't seen Independence Day, you need to. Widely considered his best movie starring Will Smith. His movies, in the 90's, were pretty good too. Like Stargate and The Patriot.
