The trio of Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Lopez have been in the news consecutively in recent times for both the good and the bad. Back in 2004, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez called off their wedding, which was initially slated for 2003 but moved to 2004 because of what the couple termed "negative media scrutiny." In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Argo actor said the media contributed as much as 50% to the reason why his proposed marriage to the music star didn't go as planned in 2004. He said, "The idea that people hate you and they hate you together and that being together is poison and ugly and toxic and the thing none of us want to be part of. And 'who would want to have them to dinner?' And 'what are they doing together?'"

The marriage was supposed to be the Hollywood version of the British Royal wedding, but it never saw the light of day. Signs that the wedding wouldn't take place in 2004 were beginning to take shape when the couples were not seen together, which had not been their usual routine since going public with their relationship in 2003.

Similar to how Ben Affleck met Jennifer Lopez on a movie set in 2002, the Batman actor also met Jennifer Garner on a movie set, but it was two years earlier before meeting Jennifer Lopez. The ex-couple met for the first time in the year 2000 when they both starred in "Pearl Harbor," and at the time, the "Alias" actress was still married to fellow actor Scott Foley. In an interview with Andy Cohen, Scott Foley said he met Jennifer Garner on the set of "Felicity," and instantly, they hit off and started dating.

The ex-couple got married in 2000, but by 2003, Jennifer Garner had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences for their fallout. In 2003, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck starred in Daredevil, their second movie together, and it was at that point they became close friends. The moniker "BENNIFER" was coined during the movie production by the film director, Kevin Smith. On the 5th of June, 2004, Jennifer Lopez wedded Marc Anthony in a secret ceremony at Beverly Hills, bringing an end to the speculation that the "Gigli" actress and Ben Affleck were planning to re-ignite their relationship when the media attention cooled off.
