Great tip, you might consider contacting Dodge. This might end up being a recall. Thank you. 😎👍

I think it’s a 90 thing my 8HP70 on my ram 1500 express 5.7 is solid ! 💪🏼 😤

Looks like this is only for two wheel drive 8HP’s… On four wheel drive the transfer case is in place of that flange…

For the record, ALL the 8HP70, 8HP75, 8HP90, and 8HP95s are built by ZF in South Carolina and purchased by FCA (now Stellantis) and always have been. Only the 845RE Torqueflite units (V6s) are built by FCA (Stellantis) internally at the Kokomo (Indiana) Transmission Plant. If there is actually a torque problem with the rear driveshaft flange on the Hemi vehicles, it wouldn't necessarily then be on the lighter-duty units.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of issues with ZF’s 8HP transmission.

Man u ask why it failed and u got those racing slicks on that truck and your out hammering that thing like its a drag truck? Man..quit waisting peoples time or posting negative things on these good trucks when your doing crazy stuff like that to them. It was funny you started the video; " I dont have a clue why the tranny failed" with racing drag tires on it.???

I am going to check mine and my wife's transmission in the morning! I will update tomorrow. My truck has 8000kms and my wife's truck has 160000kms.
Update: both trucks there is no play. My truck is a 2021 1500 assembled in Mexico and my wife's truck is a 2016 ecodiesel. So far no problems with the ecodiesel all though I am a little paranoid.

These transmissions are amazing considering what vehicles you can get them in. They're only rated for 800hp.

I wonder if the nut is backing itself out?
Maybe the steak isn't holding?

I think there was a recall for driveshaft failure. I'm not sure of years & Vin #s though.

Obviously someone on the assembly line is not doing their job properly....this should be a recall on Dodge's part. Go call dude 🤘😎🤘

I would consider getting a new nut and installing it with high strength loctite on the output shaft threads, as well as putting the indents on the nut. I wonder if the nut could be torqued a little more as well. There's a good video on YT where a guy is tearing down a 8HP90 out of a Demon.

Good stuff… I have 178K on my odometer 2016 ram R/T have had a vibration for about a year now that I could not figure out where it was coming from. I just got under the truck and sure enough that flange is loose…

Unless it is being torqued but something is compressing and requires a 2nd torque.

I had an 09 Ram 1500 and had the rear end blow up on I-5 near Seattle Wash in 2010 with less than 8000 miles, Dodge has a history of not torquing down nuts ( rear axle pinion nut loosens, the axle exploded!!! Maybe they have screwed up again
