In this video, I flew out to Austin Texas to talk to Paul Millerd - the guy who quit a cozy $250,000 corporate consulting job to write a book. When Paul first started his journey to become an author and solopreneur, he ran into a lot of problems. But, eventually he found his way using a mindset he calls "The Pathless Path". He shares how The Pathless Path help him find his passion, why he chose to self-publish his book, and exactly how much money he’s made as a self published author. Hope you guys enjoy!

Love Paul's story - one thing he said that always sticks with me "coming alive over getting ahead". Such a useful reminder when thinking about work

That's good stuff. I remember the day I quite and went out on my own. While the decision was easy, there were definite challenges, but my will to stay self-employed outweighed my need for consistency form a corporate job. My soul was free to do what I wanted. I started several side hustles like photography and printing t-shirts ... even flipped burgers for a bit. Then I took my years of experience in marketing and turned myself into a freelancer. Been doing that for 15+ years now and love it. Able to take care of my little family of five and enjoy life.

PS: I’m about to get on my Bellicon Rebounder and do some multitasking: exercising, getting some Vitamin D from the sunlight, and listen watch this video all the way through again. Thank you for the inspiration!

One of the questions I have for this is how did he go about marketing to reach a wide audience for more sales? after turning down the Penguin offer as they would have the marketing budgets etc

According to Amazon the Kindle royalty is 70%. If so, Paul's royalty should be $3.50 (list price: $4.99) not $4.28 as shown at 9:24 on the timeline. Congrats on your success Paul.

Love the story, but how much did he spend on marketing and what was that process?

Did someone say “Austin, Texas?” Greetings from an American UT grad in Taipei, Taiwan (Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education). Well done! How can I get an author-autographed copy of your book?

Crazy that when you write a book, and sell it, you have to pay taxes
