SHORTCUTS in Class 2


Shift + Any Shape OR line Command – Straight or 45’/90’ degree angles.
Ctrl + U – Smart Guides
A- Direct Selection tool(White arrow)
V - Selection tool (Black Arrow)
Shift + C - Anchor point tool (Used for converting circular paths to straight line paths and vice versa)
Shift + Ctrl + ] – Brings object to FRONT

Shift + Ctrl + [ – Brings object to BACK


NOTES in Class 2


Line Segment – A line with 2 end points ..which are called ANCHOR POINTS(Blue dots)
Any line in Illustrator is known as PATH(Blue line)
Anchor points stop the Path to a definitive point. For
Eg 1. A heavy Chain(Path) is used to stop a Ship in a particular place with AN anchor point(KHAMBA or an iron post )
Eg 2 . A “Tv Anchor” (acts as an Anchor point) stops or keeps the audience in a place or a Channel.
Selecting an individual anchor point with the Direct Selection tool(White arrow or press A) can move the anchor point along with the path in a different position.
For eg. Elbow joint(anchor point) which helps to bend your hand(Path).
Direct Selection tool (A)can be used to modify the shape by selecting 2 or more anchor points at a time.
Circle anchor points when selected with the direct selection tool (DST)are called curve handles or tangents.
Basic shapes when modified with DST and anchor points can be converted to complex organic shapes ...even without using the Pen tool!
