Ahh, the Comrade loves to put on his COC's Deliverance or Trouble's S/T CDs on his stereo and make the neighbors enjoy them, too! :) COC played in my city last summer. Got a t-shirt that I'm highly proud of, and Pepper signed my "Deliverance" copy ^_^

I've heard Watchtower? Ok, subscribed.
Had the great honor to have seen these guys playing live. Doug is by far the most impressive Bass player i've seen. And as a concertphotographer, i've seen a lot of bassplayers

Oh yes, would love to have a Yamaha BB too! Amazing sound. Love Jimmi Bain's tone.

Cheers on the 24-7 Spyz shoutout! And Helmet’s bass player in the early days used a G&L L-2000. The bass sound on the Betty album is amazing.

Back in the late 80's I took a 6 month break to fill in for a friend as the soundman at an eclectic bar in Pittsburgh called 'The Electric Banana.' Quite a few acts would jump off tours to do shows there. One was Fates Warning. Rodney, they were as good live as on the recording. Another band that played there and a band I would toss in your list was Crimson Glory. Just ran across your videos and enjoy them very much, thanks.

It's amazing how underrated Fates Warning still is. They've been one of my favourite bands since I first heard them back in 1989. Great bass work from both Joey Vera and Joe DiBiasi.
I've been fortunate enough to have seen them twice here in Brazil and as a bonus even got to meet Jim Matheos and Ray Alder. Love your channel! Great videos!

I’ve always loved Carvin and wanted one

I bought a G&L L2000 3 weeks ago and this thing is a blast! 3 poti and 3 switches make it a soundfactory. The 2 pickups push right though the mix and maybe are the loudest passiv PUs I've ever heard. Great Bass for cheap, if you buy the tribute version (Cort made in Korea or Indonesia). The quality is really good, same level as my Musicman Stingray...

I owned 2 Carvin basses in the '90s. Loved them, BUT both ended up developing bowed necks which I was unable to remedy with truss rod adjustment. I noticed later they added graphite or steel rods to their necks. Wondered if maybe they were using green wood?

The mighty Fates!! This band is criminally underrated. I bought No Exit on a whim and loved it but the album you pictured, Perfect Symmetry, was LIFE CHANGING. Doomy keyboards wrapped around odd time, acoustic passages, soaring vocals and, what was new for me at the time, a criticism of the corporate herd mentality at the time. Somehow or the other, the didn't get the fame that came to Queensryche and DT but got stained enough with the "hair label" that they got ground under the grunge/nu metal movements. Rush and Queensryche are probably the godfathers of prog metal but this album here defined it for me.

I had 2 of those Aria SB-LTDs that Sarzo was playing before the Peavey deal. Unfortunately, my head was up my ass, sound-wise and I didn't get near the sound out of it that I should've...then sold them for food money in college. Great lists Rod! I remember having that Trouble tape back in high school too!

how could i not have listened 24/7 spyz, this band is great!
Another example off old models could be the charvel and kramer basses of the 80-90s, they are sounding much better than the modern models.Especially the new jacksons, with the same money as the js and x series, you can buy a used usa jackson or Kramer of the 80s

Had a '91 Carvin fretless, new, great bass. My favorite cheap bass is a '90 Hohner 5 neck-thru. $300 new, still play it! I haven't played a 4 since.

I have an old passive Peavey Millennium BXP J Bass from about 15 years ago. I think the thing was only like $250 back then and it matches the quality of a $1000 bass these days.

I used to want a Peavey Cirrus5.But in my country it is very difficult to get one. Then, I bought a used spector euro5, is perfect except its weight. And have you heard something like Lykathea Aflame?

We need a meme gif of Rodney looking down and drinking out of that coffee mug!

Good stuff as always man! Of those older basses you mentioned, which would be more ideal from a 5 string perspective?
