What a great video. At first I was put off by the “super fast” idea since I feel YT videos often give the impression that art should not take long and then new artists (like me) have anxiety, but this video was perfect because it provided amazing tips and advice and encouragement for busy new artists (like me) to feel like they can accomplish a month long art challenge like Inktober. Thanks so much! Also you are so talented! Thanks for sharing and inspiring!

Oh, and I love your "Drive" snowstorm, it's actually my favorite of all your inktober drawings this year.

This is the most useful guide to a successful Inktober that I have seen. You inspired me to try one drawing per day. All in one day was a bit too much! 😄. ☮️💙🙏

Wow! If those are your quick drawings your other ones must be absolutely amazing.
I only took drawing back up 6 weeks ago, I hadn’t drawn since I was a teenager (about 40 years ago) and also started water colouring 7 weeks ago, it was the water colouring that reminded me I used to love drawing.

Impressive! Thanks for your perspective! As a beginner, I struggle a bit more than talented folks. I loved your suggestion of just focusing on one aspect of an object (such as the violin) and will definitely apply this in my attempts. My eye is attracted to simplicity and I loved everything you did. While I won't be trying to do it as fast as you did, I will try to time myself to reduce my struggling time and see what happens!

I think I already mentioned it, but I took plenty of inspiration already from your blog and your process here. I've never done this type of challenge before. I'm doing mine on 3x2.5 inch bristol artist trading cards made by strathmore, so I didn't have to cut them, and I can stick them in little gaming card sleeves to preserve them, but I think it was a great idea to do them nice and small, allowing for maximum focus on details in a small area. I've done pencils for eight of the prompts, and aim to have all 31 of them penciled by the time October starts so I can focus on carefully ink rendering and detail in a variety of styles, with a variety of tools. I don't especially like the set of official prompts, but I actually like that I don't like it--it's going to cause me to draw a variety of subjects I might otherwise not have drawn. That said, I've already interpreted plenty of them obliquely, and I did a portrait of Captair Kirk for the "Trek" prompt. I bet we will see a great deal of Star Trek drawings for that prompt this year! :) Thanks again for all the great videos. I'll be reviewing your recent grass video today as I gear up to draw a grassy foreground.

Lots of cool ideas. I'm rolling with my first break at work using my .005 micron, 2nd break 5.0 for line work, and maybe brush pens for final fill or watercolor if I'm inspired. That way I can limit to mostly 15-30 minutes a day.

Thanks for this idea. It reminds me of Michigan character and mural artist Ten Hundred's three episodes of Fiverr art gigs. He aimed for 15 mins per piece and compiled the results into a series of coloring books. My source is 15 images from a Colorado camping trip years ago. I'll probably fold some sketch paper into a booklet to keep the size manageable, maybe add a ribbon tie when it's done. Excellent tip about leaving the image incomplete, allowing the viewer to finish the work in their mind, and preserving the artist's time, energy, physical abilities and motivation to complete the challenge. I've seen the unfinished technique used in prized portraits of the wealthy and powerful and Western landscapes. It definitely grabs the viewer's attention. I look forward to watching more of your work. 💖

if you are not an established artist / you are still learning to draw / you think you have room to improve, don't bother trying to do all 31 prompts in a day. you might as well be drawing 31 stick figures in 1 hour. nobody's gonna care, and you won't be learning anything out of it.
the aim of doing 31 days is to balance between challenging and finishing. doing this balancing act for 31 days straight will yield rewards from a lot of areas, not only having mediocre artworks laying around.

This is super cool! For as many times as I've attempted inktober (5, or 6, maybe), I've never really looked at the Internet and how everyone else does it vs just keeping up with a few friends who have way more time than me! 😅

I think I'm going to try things a little bit differently this year 😊

Excellent! Thanks. I tend to do small doodles and sometimes combine them. Like you, I just want to participate, not stress about it. It's a fun filled challenge for yourself not a competition.

Very helpful. Thanks again.👍
