Xiaomi Vacuum Roborock s50 - Error 1 Fix - LDS not working

Possible fix for the Error 1 - LDS not working

Material:
Screwdriver
9V Battery
2 connectors

Disassemble the upper part until you get to the LDS, then unplug it, connect it to the 9V battery and let it run for a few minutes. Put it back and assemble the vacuum again.

Works for me but after a few days I get the same problem and I fixed it again... But it seems it will happen the same in a while...

Hi, i do that proceedement but after 15min of cleaning the error 1 appears. How many minutes i have to put the 9v batery on the sensor? Tanks

Just fixed my S55 this way using an 5V USB powersupply instead of a 9V block. Thank you for sharing.

My trusty roborock from 12.2018 just had this issue this week (02.2022). The laser radar wouldnt turn. After disassembly it worked for 10seconds. Only after I let it run on 7Volts from a powersupply it seems to be fixed again. We'll have to see how long it'll hold up. Thanks a lot for your video. It saved my apartment from becoming a dirty place.

Heck yea, this works!!!
Tip for everyone: the first time I tried this, it didnt work. I took it back apart and I cleaned the rod of the motor really well (it had some small fibers wrapped up around it). Then I put a few drops of lubricant at the base of the rod where it meets the motor. I also used a brand new 9v battery instead of the older one I used the first time. I let it spin for about 15 seconds, then put everything back together. Has been working fine ever since.

Io ho provato ma dopo un ciclo di pulizia il problema si è ripresentato… bisogna cambiare il motorino … ho speso 14 euro su Amazon e ora non ha più fatto il difetto. Per favore dillo nel tuo video che il problema come fai te non si risolve per sempre

I just got the same error on mine today.
It is under 1 year old and should laster longer than this.
How old was your unit when it failed?

Hi, where your engine running when you started the vacumclener before you fixed it?

Can confirm. I used USB Powerbank, cut the USB cable and used red and black pin to spin the motor. Works as charm now. Thanks

Worked for me today. I used a 9V DC charger from what I had around and two wires.

For me, I fixed it eventually, by adding a few drops of oil on the brass bearing of LSD driving motor. I tried to restart it by driving it with 6V dc supply, but it only worked for a few minutes. After adding oil, it worked for 4 hours already and a new motor is on the way. Same as Morgasmo's solution, wish I have saw it before, saving me from dissembling the machine more than 3 times.
