Awesome, thanks a lot. I hope you sleep well tonight knowing there is another roborock S5 driving around with pieces of credit card in its fan motor.

For those attempting this:
The clips on the fan motor break really easy. I had to resort to a drip of glue to ensure a good seal

Genius! Thanks for this - threw in a couple of washers and it did the trick perfect! Also found fluff clogged up on the intake so cleaned the whole inside, it's cleaning the floor ten times better now, just like new!

I have the model vacuum + mop 1G. Seems to a be another version.
Bought mine 1month ago, it was working well until today.
I did the same trick with the fan and it worked ! 1g fan is black, not white.
Thank you for your tutorial

Dear Tomik, thanks for the very helpful video! We used BN1074 washers we had left over from our raspberry pi, and they work just fine. Our fan casing clips snapped off when opening them, so we superglued the halves together. Our vacuum is finally working again! The problem presented itself a little differently for us: fan would spin up very slow and after a few seconds error 18 (fan error) was returned. No burn smell, no skidmarks found in the fan. Since we didn't find any debris either we gave your method a try. Good luck to all others with similar issues!

i got exactly the same problem with my robot vac. it sometimes stopped and produced burnt plastic smell. already bought a fan replacement but then found your clip. while waiting for the replacement i tried what you suggested and voila ... it worked like magic!! the robot vac is now back like a brand new one. i will keep the replacement for spare. thank you very much for sharing!

I can confirm this works. Fixed my fan this way and it is running fine so far. Though, I found a local seller of fan-replacements, so I now have 3 working robot vacuums....

Thanks this actually works. I used metal m3 washers. I couldnt remove the stator like you so i just placed it underneath somehow and it works again :) thanks

I must have done something wrong. One of the clips broke, then I put the washers and closed the vacuum. When I turned it on the fan started making a very loud noise and it didn't look safe to let it run with that noise, so I sort of gave up and let the robot to die alone in my living room.

Later I ordered a new fan from aliexpress, which was like $10, had a coupon so it cost me $3 with free shipping. I kept the original fan, if the new one breaks I will try your fix again! Thanks for sharing the video :)

Thanks Tomik723, This definitely works for me. I made those distance parts from shirt collar stay, which is thinner than and I found it better this way. Good job!

Another success story. I used layers of toilet paper instead of washers to have more control of the thickness. Thanks Tomik723 for the tip!

Hi Tomik, thanks for this video *thumbsup*, i had the same problem and i could solve the problem. My Roborock smelted like it was a electronic failure, but after i saw your video i checked this little guy. And what can i see it, say it, fix it and it works like new!

I opened the fan and found that the motor core and the blade was not firmly attached to each other. When the blade spinning, it floats up a little bit till stuck to the fan cover.

My working solution is using super glue to attach the fan blade and the motor core. Making it stick together. The robot is working just fine.

My fan glued itself together on the flange near the motor. I had a new fan to exchange it over so just threw it away, after pulling it apart to check it out. Yes the tags broke off easily as I pulled apart

nice guide, made same with my old original engine after watching your video. Can't test helped this or not until my current engine die, too lazy to disassemble robot again just for tests :/
But already touched this previously floppy detail, it not loosy anymore, seems legit! Sad that I've found this video too late and already buyed new engine from aliexpress...
What have you used to open those clipses? I've break two of them at opening

Hey @Tomik723, I was wondering if you know the pinout for the motor connector on the board. I believe one would be +14V, GND, two others for the direction I/O.

This looks just like mine. I had noise in addition to the smell. Did it work fine after your fix?
