This would be perfect to build into a little refrigerator-mounted note-taker. One for each person in the family.

The distortions will never completely go away due to the way the recording is stored, 1 bit at a time, I remember typing in a program from a magazine to my Acorn Atom that did the same thing, it was a good way to add sound effects to games as long as the memory was available.

I don’t know how they sell these things so cheap. It comes with a speaker too!

I remeber when Radio Shack was selling the predecessor to these back in the late 1980s. The CHIP was nearly as large as this board is!

Wow, that's a sensational price. For Aussies, the best price I've seen on the website is $1.62 AUD with free postage. Try buying just that chip online by itself locally at a well-known electronics chain will cost you $5.95 for the chip and $8 for basic postage - ie, almost $14 buckeroos. From what I can see, the IC itself is not soldered in, so you could just take it out and incorporate into a bespoke solution, though I see the IC itself is also available for the same price if you just wanted the chip. According to the spec info it suggests a minimum of 3V, so a fully self-contained solution could run off a couple of AAA's - probably????
The recording time is 8 - 20 seconds, so not for lecture notes! But you've got your phone for that; this is more for those "hobbyist" solutions.
According to the spec sheet from another site "the module is designed with embedded-Flash memory, which can hold data for up to 100 years and erase/record the life cycle up to 100, 000". So one adaptation of this device could be to just record say a warning message that is triggered every time some condition is met.

When you demonstrate the sound cup the speaker with your hands to isolate the back wave of the speaker and it will sound much fuller. Love your channel.

The speaker wasn’t bad, a small speaker needs a box around it to allow lower frequencies to be audible. You can check a speaker for dragging cone by holding it close to your ear and gently pushing on the diaphragm. If you hear scratching then it’s dragging.

That is the basis of the $3 plastic buttons used to teach dogs to communicate with words. (You record one word per button.)

Estupendo para Cuba donde acoplándole un módulo de amplificación los pregoneros tendrán una valiosa experiencia al vender sus productos por las calles. 👍👏🤗🇨🇺

You could also put one in a toy to add custom sounds or interaction.
