Yesterday, the former First Lady, Nancy Reagan died, but she left behind a legacy that many will remember simply as "Just Say No". The phrase became a pop culture phenomenon from the moment a girl requested advice from Nancy on what to say if someone offers her drugs, and Nancy replied, "Just Say No". Overnight those three words were heard and seen almost everywhere from NBA Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar singing a "Just Say No" rap to Michael Jackson changing the lyrics to "Beat It''. However, the impact the phrase had has been described as negligible. Scientific American concluded in a study that "Just Say No"-related programs like D.A.R.E. did "little or nothing to combat substance use in youth."

This is so stupid. “Just say no to drugs” doesn’t do anything. Drugs aren’t the problem, they are the solution.
