George Harvey Strait Sr.  is an American country music singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer. Strait is considered one of the most influential and popular recording artists of all time. In the 1980s, he was credited for pioneering the neotraditional country style, famed for his authentic cowboy image and roots-oriented sound at a time when the Nashville music industry was dominated by country pop crossover acts. He was offered a job designing cattle pens and gave notice that he was quitting music but his wife made him give music one more year before he gave up. Record Executives would not give him a deal. He had 33 top 10 hits in a row, 22 of which were No. 1s. He has 86 top 10 hits with 44 of them being No. 1s. Man's a living legend. And it doesn't matter if he's standing in front 10 people or in a sold out arena, he sounds the same.

He just broke the record in the USA with most attendance in a concert. 110, 908 total.

This is the sound that generations of us grew up with and it's so soothing and just feels like home. Could not be more removed from what modern country is now. George is a legend in that scene.

Never needed gimmicks. Just pure talent and class.

This entire 2001 concert was probably George Strait at his finest. He's called the "King of Country" for a reason. Strong confident voice and presence. It's worth watching all the videos from the concert.

George Strait is without ANY doubt the single greatest and most successful country singer of all time. 60 No. 1s, 150 Million albums sold, King of Country, King of Texas and overall laid back, cool and kind guy.

My wife's cousin, Terry Stafford wrote this song. He originally performed it with Spanish horns instead of the fiddle. And yes, we live in Amarillo

His is one of the best concerts I've ever attended. It was so personable, no theatrics or light shows. Just a guitar and a band and him singing.

I think George has a new fan. I like how she analytically dissects what he does with his voice while at the same time obviously being emotionally touched by what she’s listing to. Nice.

Beth, my wife (who's a redhead) just walked in while I was watching this. She said, Oh, your with your other redhead. Cracked me up.

To say George was huge is an understatement, and is still amazing. This is true country music before they started with all the elements from other genres and electronic doo-hickys that they try to have today. This is the story telling of a cowboy riding the rodeo circuit which George has actually done, he's the real thing. Another one of his greatest songs is "Cross My Heart" which was my first ex-wife and my song. Still very hard for me to listen to, but it is so absolutely great.

One of my all-time favorite male country singers along with Alan Jackson and Mark Chesnutt.

Here in Texas, he's OUR King George. Got to see him in concert once, and it was awesome. George revived & kept alive the Texas Swing genre originated by Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys. At the concert, there was a section of the venue that was clear of chairs which served as a dance floor. His music has always been absolutely MADE for dancing, and has been a dance hall staple here for decades. ...and yes... smoothest voice in country music.
❤❤

I mostly listen to metal these days, but this has been and still is one of my top five favorite songs. And George is one of the few artists I can listen to any time, no matter my mood.

All hail King George! Amarillo By Morning is my absolute favorite of his songs. I've yet to hear a bad song from him. Love, love, love!

There's a sequel to this song, called "I Can Still Make Cheyenne". George Strait is one of the greatest singers in history. I've seen him in concert twice, and he's all about the music. No pyrotechnics, no dazzling light show, no props. Just him, the band, and the instruments. The only other thing on the stage, is a plain wooden stool, with his bottles of water on it.
