BEST BMW m235i Wheel Setup| Square vs Staggered

Thinking about a wheel upgrade for your BMW? I would say that the first thing to consider is if you want a staggered or square setup. Then figuring out how much space you have in the wheel well to determine the wheel width, and lastly, do you need to adjust for camber or caster?

Once you have that all figured out then start your search. Happy shopping and please share what setup you have planned for your car in the comment section.

Hey Fritz, I'm running a very similar setup on M240i. Same wheel specs and same tire *width*, with OEM shocks on H&R springs and Millway camber plates. However, I'm running 245/*40*/18 tires, and I think it's a worthwhile increase in sidewall. I've busted quite a few rear tires over the life of my car, but never a front, and I think the extra sidewall is to thank for that, which is why I went 245/40 for my new setup (especially with stiffer springs in the mix). My speedometer actually reads almost perfect compared to GPS, where it was a few percent fast before, though the odometer is slow now.

I really need at least 255's in the rear. Bigger if i can. I'm FBO and custom tune BM3, and also just installed an LSD. I figured the LSD would resolve the issues of burning the rear on launch, but not the case. Now i burn both tires for about a second and a half before full hookup. Best time I've been able to pull 0-60 is 3.7. I'm fully convinced, given the power i currently have, that i could land a sub 3 second 0-60 if i could get the power to the ground and hook up at launch.

HOPE ALL IS WELL, I read A FEW wheel/tire fitment guideS for the F22. I wanted to ask a question about the follow suggestion below;

235/40-18 tires can be a direct fit, but its strongly suggested dialing in front and rear negative camber to prevent rubbing. Amount of camber varies depending on tire brand and ride height apparently.

Is this front and rear negative camber possible without lower control arms or thrust arms? I have stock height on my vehicle. I am not interested in any spacers or rolling my fenders back at all.

Thinking of running Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 PLUS tires on 18x8.5 wheels.

Please help with some insight.

Hey mate. I have the same car, running Pilot Sport 5's. All factory sizes. So can I buy this set of 8.5x18 et35, that I have found that I love? I will just put the 225/40/18 on the 8.5in rim. I know it's a bit stretched, but I will then just get the 245/35/18 once they have worn out. I am just running standard suspension, unlike you. So do you think 8.5in with a 35 offset will be fine? I do have spacers, which I used to make the stock wheel we both had, to sit flush. I am hoping to not have to use them on the front, so the wheel still sits flush and doesn't poke out. When I do wheel offset calculator, is says I will lose 3mm of gap between the strut and wheel, and poke out 22mm further (which should mean I can lose the front spacer all together). I just want to know if you think an 8.5in wide with 35 offset will clear my bog standard suspension. So all the same wheel swap you have done, just without changing the suspension etc, like you have done. Would love to know what you think?
Thank you very much, I have subscribed and watch and like all your vids. Cheers, David from NZ

Hey Fritz, Have you been able to fit BMW center caps into the wheels?

Do you think there will be rubbing with 18x 8 et40mm wheels with 245/40r18 all around? Also do I have to do the adjustments that you made?

Hi love the channel. I just wanted the ask. I have the same car and has some water coming in the passenger footwells. I cleared out the passenger bonnet drain and the front water stopped. However during this I never checked the rear. Turns out there was water there too. I have tried to take out as much as I can and can’t tell if more water is coming in. Do you think it is old water that just needs cleaning?

I’m running a 255 square on the same exact wheel sizing setup, wasn’t impossible to fit!

Hi Fritz, I just got aodhan AFF7 staggered set for my m235i, but my rear wheels (18x9.5 et 35)stand out a little bit. Will the rear wheels hit my rear fender? I didn't get any modification for my suspension. Thanks!

Hey Fritz, I'm thinking of putting 245/40/17 wheels on my 2 series. Not sure whether to go with the 35 or 45 offset for a square setup. Any recommendations?

Hey Fritz subscriber here, I haven't found a video by you about it so figured I'd ask. I'm looking to track my M235i xdrive, so I'd like to put the widest wheels and tires possible on my car. I also want to lower my car either by lowering springs or coilovers..but my M235i has the auto dampening suspension and I'm finding conflicting info when people put lowering springs or coilovers on the M235i's with this specific suspension.
(1) Does your car have the auto dampening suspension as well?
(2) Do you have coilovers, or lowering springs, or is it still stock ride height?
(3) Do you know a reputable company that sells coilovers or lowering springs-(preferably a company where I can speak with a human that can answer my questions)
*Note: this is my first BMW and I just don't know where to start, all of my tracking and upgrading experience is with my 350z that I made a track car out of. Thanks for your time in advance!

Hey Fritz, since this video is almost a year ago, how was your experience running 4s, did you run them all year or did you swap them out in winter?
I live in the bayarea and was wondering whether these should be good for driving around bayarea all year round?

For RWD, my car’s factory setup is 225/50/18 for front and 245/45/18 for rear.

I have some buddies run square setup with 245/45/18.

If front and rear rims have Different offset, can you still do tire rotation??
