Its amazing how much the couple loved Moe so much that despite the traumatizing incident that they had, they still went to go visit him!

Its sweet that they kept visiting Moe. It must hurt, they saw him as a son. My heart goes to the family, I thought Moe was gonna protect them, but perhaps seeing his kind attacking his family made him panic. I feel bad.

In almost every major chimpanzee attack, it’s a post-pubescent male chimpanzee. Much like humans, male chimps become much more aggressive and prone to violence. They also develop a sex drive, which causes frustration when they’re surrounded by humans who reject their advances. They become painfully aware of the fact that they aren’t human, and never will be, and this causes very real depression, loneliness, and anger.

The most fascinating part of this story that wasn’t even mentioned in this video is that those chimps attacked because of jealousy. They were giving Moe cake and attention but the other chimps didn’t get anything so they got pissed and attacked. Fairness is big in chimp society. Even the alpha male won’t take food from a low ranker. Most chimp attacks are from jealousy like the woman who got her faced ripped off. The chimp was jealous that his owners friend took her out of the house and he didn’t get to go with.

I expected this story to go a different route than it did, and even though it wasn't what I thought the story was still so tragic. I hope that the two were able to find peace after not being able to find Moe, and wherever Moe is whether that be dead or somewhere else I hope that he's content

I was a primate keeper at a prominent US zoo when this happened. I worked mostly with orangutans. The zoo also has the largest collection of Western Lowland gorillas in North America. Everyday I left for work my ex would say, “Don’t let them get you.” ❤

The first incidents were completely not Moe's fault they were told NOT to stick their fingers in the cage and did it anyways which obviously aggravated him, and it wasnt even Moe's fault that his parents got attacked cause other chimps hold deep gruges when smaller inferior of their kind get speical treatment so it was bound to happen, it is just tragic as the title puts it well, moe didnt do anything seriously wrong

Maybe the other Chimps killed Moe and they didn’t want to tell them… or maybe they didn’t want the couple to keep visiting and they sent Moe to another sanctuary

An Animal is not a "child". These things will take your face off in an instant.

if a dog bit someones finger off, OR MAULED a police officers hand to bits, the dog would be put down or shot. horrible that they didn't do something. that animal was never made to be out of the wild. IT NEVER GOES WELL. please we must outlaw this. they are incredibly aggressive and sadistic, more than a majority of other animals. appalled.

I'm glad this story wasn't about a beloved pet brutally attacking their owner, those really upset me
