In 2372, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Alpha Quadrant underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, If no one else can help, and... if you can find them. Maybe you can hire, The Broccoll-Team.

It's rare you get to see Picard mortified, but when he said Broccoli, that did it.

In a deadly crisis, Reg Barclay is a lot more composed and clear headed. Because for him, the ship possibly breaking apart isnt as scary as having to talk in front of other people. He has something to focus on.

Reginald Barclay is a very lovable character and one of my absolute favorites.

The look on Deanna's face when she saw Barkley's holodeck version of herself was absolutely priceless. I get a kick out of that moment every time I see it.

"It seems like a violation to enter someone's holodeck fantasy like this"
On Deep Space Nine, they explain that it's illegal to break in on someone's holodeck time.

One of the things I appreciate about this story is Picard's refusal to just make Barclay somebody else's problem with a transfer; he challenges his senior staff to get over themselves and do the work of cultivating an underperforming officer to meet their standards. Also, pie-eating holodeck Wesley is hilarious.

Barclay is the most relatable TNG character.

Dwight Schultz was perfect as Barclay.

"I knew about the flux capacitor, but I didn't need to hear about it from some seventeen year old kid." A reference to both the tech and to Marty McFly's age in _Back to the Future._

*_I can’t tell you how many TNG fans from the 80s & 90s saw THEMSELVES in Barclay! As much as we aspired to be more like Picard, Riker or even Data, many knew that the writers wrote Barclay as the self-doubting teenage nerds who were just about to or recently had entered the job market and had to navigate through workplaces filled with older and infinitely more confident coworkers! So the sympathy factor towards Barclay amongst fans was very, very high!_*

The Barclay arc has begun, and long-term Trek fans know what I am talking about.

Dwight Schultz, from the A-Team, is a huge fan of Trek and asks his friend
Whoopi Goldberg to give him "a little" part. A couple of years pass, and gets the call for this episode. This episode changed his life, stay tuned...

I like to imagine Program 9 being the Wesley eating pie one

Having social phobia and depressions since my teens seeing Reginald Barclay struggling with comparable issues yet overcoming them and thriving was a great comfort.
I owe TNG my life.

Yeah, Barclay was a really important character on TNG I think, he's the first time we see someone in 24th century Starfleet that's _not_ a paragon of perfection.

(also, Troi's response to "herself" on the holodeck will never not be funny, Marina Sirtis absolutely nailed her expression of shocked affront :)

Nervous, shy guy, a hero in his daydreams, becomes the real life hero on the end. ... The Secret Life of Walter Mitty 1947

There's a blooper in Barclay's dialogue that they left in because it's funny; at the meeting, Wesley mentioned "flow capacitors", but when Barclay was recounting the incident to Troi, he said "flux capacitor", which is tech from the Back to the Future movies.

"If you´re attracted to your therapist, you probably should switch therapist."

Jen's reaction to LaForge's budding holodeck romance with Leah Brahms has had us champing at the bit for this episode. I'm sure this reaction will fully deliver.
