For projects like this where it is hard to tell how much of a "tail" you'll need for a long tail cast on, I recommend a knit cast on. That way you dont have to measure out your tail. I hope that helps for next time! Beautiful work and thank you for posting this.

You're right! I've never knit before, only crochet, and it took me quite a while to get a hang of this. I've got an armful of stitches though!~ I would suggest to look up a few basic knitting videos, especially one about how to cast on with a long tail!! helps a ton :)

Well I was trying to find some way of knitting quicker and bigger without making or buying giant needles. I came across a video of a women doing this at a craft so or something like that and figured it out by watching the video a few times. Then I figured since there wasn't a real tutorial I'd put one out there for others to learn :)

You can use whichever or how ever much yarn you'd like. Using less yarn will make the holes larger though.
