Strangely, I think Zoro was the most relieved of the group. That smile on his face, finally getting exactly what he needed out of Usopp, was just so satisfying.

“You better not drop him” is Zoro’s way of saying how he cares about him and how’s he’s happy he’s coming back

The small details leading up to this is what makes it so great for me.

Luffy never actually ordered the crew to leave Until Usopp rejoins the crew. Even when Garp was “throwing canon balls” luffy orders the crew to protect the ship. It’s only after usopp is on board he says “let’s go to the new world”

Everyone is on edge and agitated waiting for Usopp to show up. Even zoro, who wouldn’t take him back without an apology is not relaxed. His sword is shaking while waiting for Usopp. And once usopp is back on the ship, everyone is happy to have him back.

And Garp never actually tries to sink the Thousand Sunny. With all the accolades and strength Garp has, he could easily sink the ship if he actually wanted to. He held back but performed his duties.

It’s been said countless times but this once again proves how much of a family the Strawhats are. Luffy and Usopp are basically brothers. They’ll fight and yell at each other and even swear to be done. But at the end of it, one or both will apologize and they’ll forgive, hug it out and probably cry

Sonny’s acting in this scene is God Tier. It sounds so real.

My best reaction was Sanji's.... He was genuinely happy.... not that others were not.... But Sanji's joyful scream did it for me....
I screamed too....

This is one of the most powerful scenes of One Piece. The ugly crying of Usopp and Luffy, as opposed to having Luffy playing the cool Shonen character (even forsaking the one manly tear). Usopp admitting his stubbornness and apology. Even though the crew said they would leave him if he didn’t apologize, that antic impatience from everyone (even the Marine) to see if Usopp would actually return and apologize. This was a peak moment among many peak moments.

This whole scene is my favorite because it shows that Usopp is willing to put down his pride and apologize plus it shows how much the crew does care for him. ❤

This arc hit me pretty hard.
Regarding the Going Merry, you can get a sense of where Usopp and Luffy are both coming from. Usopp was upset to say farewell to the Going Merry, bc not only did he see Merry as another crew member and took the time to patch her up as best as he could, she was the only connection he had to the one person he cared about most (at least before the Straw Hats entered into his life): Kaya; not to mention she provided it as a parting gift to him and his new friends as a thank you for saving her (and the rest of Syrup Village).

Luffy also viewed the Going Merry as another crew mate, he also saw how damaged beyond repair Merry was, and didn’t want to risk the safety and well-being of anyone on the ship; plus it seemed not only dangerous, but cruel to make Going Merry travel beyond her limits, considering how close she was to breaking (one more short trip would have been the end of her). Luffy approached the matter from a captain’s perspective while Usopp approached it from a personal perspective; Luffy’s call to put the Going Merry to rest hit Usopp on a level that even Luffy couldn’t completely empathize with, creating tension between the two.

Deciding to part with the Going Merry was the first HUGE turning point for Luffy as a captain. It was the first tough call that he had to make, and the first time he starts feeling the weight of a captain’s responsibility on his shoulders. The fact that he had a crew mate that was challenging his judgment and his authority over the matter only made that much harder and more hurtful. Up until that point, we’ve seen Luffy pick A LOT of fights again enemies that pick on his friends (or innocent people); and the fight between him and Usopp was the first time Luffy finds himself doing the unfathomable: fighting against someone considered a friend, or even a brother), and one of his own crew mates no less.

Luffy didn’t want him to leave the Straw Hats in the first place, but Usopp made it clear that he couldn’t go along with Luffy’s decision, even though Luffy was captain, so he left. Of course, Luffy knows how much and why the Going Merry was so important to Usopp in particular, and had hope that Usopp would calm down and come back to them before they had to leave the island. Besides, despite the conflict, deep down, he still considered Usopp and friend and wanted to give him another chance; and Luffy proves time and time again that he will go to all and any ends necessary for his friends and their dreams/ambitions. Though as his first mate, Zoro knew Luffy wanted Usopp beaks immediately after they fought, but convinced Luffy to hold his ground as captain, and didn’t want anyone to take advantage of Luffy’s kind and forgiving nature, or disrespect Luffy as captain and come back to receive no repercussions for it. He knew Usopp was infamous for his cowardly nature and lying his way through situations- things that go against honor, integrity, loyalty- values that Zoro stands for; so he pointed out that if Usopp really wants to rejoin the crew, he would have to prove it by having the courage to face them all as himself, and GENUINELY apologize.

Usopp also came to learn that while the Going Merry was important to him, the bonds he formed and the times he shared with the other Straw Hats- his friends, were more important; and the Going Merry’s spirit would still live on, no matter what ship was taken out to sea. But being afraid and shameful of rejection for disrespecting Luffy as a captain, he went under the guise of the Sniper King. In the end, he realized he wanted nothing more than to be a Straw Hat again, and was willing to face the crew as himself, admit his faults and give a genuine apology for all he did- an apology that Luffy had already forgiven, and was just waiting for Usopp to make the choice he hoped he would so he could welcome him back with open arms.

Super emotional it was the 5th time I cried during water 7/Enies Lobby only by Usopp getting beaten up, Usopp leaving the crew, Robin's willingness to live, the Mary's funeral, and this.

Other than that Sanji really said like Wario

This arc was very hard for me to watch. A lot of things were happening. I mean the Going Merry was damaged beyond repair, Robin leaves, and then to add insult to injury, Usopp leaves the Straw Hats out of anger and challenges Luffy to a duel. But in the end, things still got better. The Straw Hats get a new ship in the Thousand Sunny, Nico Robin’s back, Franky joins the crew, and Usopp apologizes, and he’s legitimately sorry. I’m glad everything got better. I really am.
Now, I’m not saying that a concussion is a good thing, but when it brings two friends back together, it’s worth it!!
