I take the challenge of meditating for 20 days with this Muse S meditation headband unboxing and review. I have some meditation goals I'm trying to achieve while I go on this journey. I'm hoping to make it more of a habit and improve the way I meditate. Can I hack my way into a better meditation session?

you should try using the device when you are being creative. Use it when doing music, creating your awesome projects and working out and compare the data to when you are actually meditating.

I've been practicing mindfulness and meditation for years for years. I think of meditation as a heightened mind state. Also the best description for learning mindfulness and meditation that I've heard is that it is not difficult, it is elusive.

Yes! Let's see even more meditation and because the sleep data is all over the place, I'd love to get conclusive evidence if it does anything to improve your sleep. Go for it, Ali!! 🌟

Just FYI meditation is a long play. I'd say minimum 2 months before you can definitely feel positive results. Plus you really need to learn how to do it. It can be so much more than just sitting quietly and watching breath. When you really find the meditative breath so much more unlocks. Like you can put you body in a state of bliss and pleasure just sitting still, where every breath feels like a deep full hit of dopamine.

I could talk about this for hours honestly. It's one of the best things I've every learned how to do. It calibrates the nervous system so that everything feels better.

Edit: Also I want to say I *hate* guided meditation. It just adds to my thoughts and I can't meditate with it. When I meditate I focus on the body and ignore the mind. So much easier to quiet down that way. Just feel all of the way into your hands and feet, to your fingertips and toes and breathe with your body. Pour your out-breath into the parts that need it most.

Seems kind of like exercise where practice helps! Really cool that music could be a form of meditation! Awesome video Ali!

Yes please do a sleep lab. I was thinking that right before you said it. Lab is more accurate. It will give you a better sleep knowledge. They can talk about sleep habits as well. I learned a lot from mine.

Love your videos! A real sleep study while wearing the various devices would be great to test the acuracy of each one!!!

I think one of the problems with meditation is the way it's approached. I don't maintain a regular practice by any means, I'm not an "expert" for whatever that's worth, and I'm mostly self taught. The journey you need might not be the trendy mindfulness/breath counting meditation. Body scans can be useful. Chakra meditation can be very intense. Some moving Feldenkrais. I'll usually incorporate some of everything based on the feel of the moment, but I'm seeing a lot of promise in inducing hallucinations.

Yes, yes and yes. I would like to see all of those ideas into a video. Especially the sleep lab one 😅

Interesting was thinking creative flow state is like meditation & your very creative so I guess you are in a creative flow state quite abit. Also I read once about a gentle hum for meditation goodstuff really great thanks.

Meditating in a natural setting might be easier for a beginner, with your back to a tree, on a rock, etc., even just on your backyard with your bare feet touching the ground to ground yourself would facilitate the experience. I also suggest you do it for 15-20 min.. There are also many forms of active meditation that you can explore, if that is more in alignment with your preference.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Ali! I love your videos but i dont normally comment, however my 11 year old son is epileptic and I stay awake all night, every night to monitor him incase he has a seizure. The idea that something like a headband that could monitor his brainwaves and alert us to abnormalities would be absolutely life changing!

I've done a little guided meditation through some of the other apps (no gizmos), and I'll say I definitely got into the zone when it was just breathing and trying to not focus on anything (or "acknowledging the thought and discarding it") It definitely made me feel relaxed and a little bit of a(n oxygen) high I guess for a while after, dopamine maybe I dunno. Having the recording suddenly jump to a heightened auditory response just because it reads your brain/pulse wrong and saying you're not calm seems like it would ruin the experience because you're suddenly focusing on how you're not calm.

Love your videos. Good content and you are gorgeous - inside and outside. Makes it really enjoyable.

One of my favorite descriptions of meditation is that, if you were really good at it, you wouldn't need to do it. I feel like that sentiment is basically antithetical to how Ali operates 😆
