The Core Ultra 7 265K is a CPU that certainly has cores for the money, though how does it compare vs the Ryzen 7 7700 in games and even the Ryzen 9 9950X3D? Well let's test this CPU out on a B860 Motherboard here today together with Process Lasso, which ended up fixing problems I was having with the CPU, especially in games.

Check out the B860 motherboards here

Finished the rtx undervolting today. Should be out tomorrow. Some peeps been asking me to make video on the tariffs in the us vs tech prices. Is that something most you guys would tune in for?

I love the channel, thanks for the years of content. Is there another flip up challenge in the works? It’s my favorite series 😂

They are an absolute multithread workload monster for desktops, they use lot less power than 14th gen and gaming performance is still good, i think they are getting more hate than they deserve honestly. They just dont fit the use case of just only high end gaming vs the price. But if you are doing mostly work applications and gaming on the side they are a solid choice

Cs2 actually has 3 setting for core utilization: default, performance cores only and prefer performance cores. You only see this setting when using a cpu which has more than one type of core, something to look into for future reviews perhaps.

Great channel! I just found it and I'm enjoying the content. The 265K is a great chip for my needs. Especially since I live near a Micro Center and the motherboard bundle offer on this was fantastic! I ended up getting a $179.99 motherboard and received $70.oo off the 265K putting the price all the way down to $229! With some easy overclocking it easily surpassed my old Ryzen 7700 in gaming. I do agree with Bryan that Intel should just stop with the non K / K stuff. I ended up with an ASUS board in white, but that Steel legend board is certainly a beauty!

It seems that intel has forgotten.

Back in the day, the fx 8350 had "cores" too.
Nobody cared. Everybody wanted the 3770k. A good "all around" cpu.

Now they want to sell us a 265k/285k, both couldn't be closer to the FX architecture. Mind boggling.

How no one see this on intel?

HEDT should come back. at least 2 Full X16 PCIE lanes and quad memory should be available without having to pay the Xeon/Epyc/Threadripper PRO Tax.
BTW, thanks for the LTSC tutorial video. That windows version is what10 should have been from the beginning.

For this price it needs to be very good, but not "not bad"

I just retired my 7 year old pc and upgraded to 265k, this is the best cpu overall considering the price now, gaming is fine, i have a 2k monitor 144hz. Dont need more frames than 144 for my needs, im happy

I have a intel ultra 9 285k with 98 gigs ddr5 ram 6000mh and a rxt 5070 ti and its a beast runs any game at 1440 on ultra setting without breaking a sweat cpu temps in the 130f range

Not showing CPU power for the 265K in the gaming comparison was a good call.

Not gonna lie, looking at it currently the core ultra 7 265k is as monster, and it's from time to time discounted to match the Ryzen 7 9700x in price, which is completely bonkers.

My main issue tho which i can't really just ignore is the power consumption, the 9700x for just 65w provides utterly insane performance, and it's not like it's a slouch on workloads either (just compared to ultra it might be).

The 9700x is so damn efficient you can keep air cooled in a micro atx case as far as we care, can't say the same about the core ultra, and as a user that does general mix of gaming with some programming / simulations (virtuoso) / "heavy" office (excel spanning thousands of rows with multiple images, graphing and solving), I'd say I'll just take the efficient cpu, considering my Ryzen 5 1600 serves me pretty well and it's due to upgrade

Man thats so sad. Even slower than the 2, 5 years old and also cheaper Ryzen 7700.

It will take a lot more than this video to make me consider using Intel again for my CPU. And I was an Intel fanboi for many years building from the Core 2 Duo days. Once you lose that kind of respect it takes a hell of a lot more to regain it than to never have lost it in the first place.

Just shows how good the 7700 really is. Great comparison!

"Utilize corea and threads", Keep in mind it's 20 cores, there's no hyperthreading in the Ultra series. It's important to have the latest Windows II update so the p-cores and e-cores will be utilized properly. THe Core Ultra scales better with faster memory than AMD does. So it's really worth showing the Ultra with thew 200S Boost. I have 8400 CuDIMMs that use 1.45 V I had to undervolt the memory to get the 200S boosts to work, and was expecting it to be instable, but it's been solid, using it everyday since the BIOS with 200S Boost dropped. Granted the memory is running slower than before, but the fabric is overclocked, and sure I didn't have that before with my oown verclock. Also 200S is an overclock profile that doesn't void the warranty, which is rather sweet.

Interested in this also to see how they perform together, older games seem to follow strong single threaded (Intel still seems to be good at that lol) but for my AM5 have been thinking of grabbing a 7700 or 9800X3D (9950X3D Linux if I get a drop). Personally I found the E cores for gaming useless and ended up disabling them on 12th gen so the P cores could boost higher and some games wouldn't crash out. I don't think I will buy Intel for a while as AM5 will last a lot longer. I consider 12400F, 12700KF, and 12900KF to likely be our last household Intel machines.

Did you look for the new boost setting that changes the clock speed of the cache, that Microsoft cover under warranty? There's about a 10 percent speed increase, and it is just recent. It should be in the new bios.

If this platform had their prices slashed by 30% at the very least it would be a very good option for "budget" HEDT builds.
