I'd like to see a book about Locke being a tracker and Assassin. I think THAT would have given us more insight into why his actions in "Nightfall" were meaningful, and would have been great to show how he grew to become worthy of being a Spartan.

You think 343i could've made Halo5 story more interesting by having vague and unexplained reasons why Blue Team sort of activate the Guardians, only to have mind blown plot twist at the near end of the game where you discover Chief and Blue Team where trying to stop it but Cortana made them look guilty so they'll have no choice but join her.
But who cares! It's all about the multiplayer I guess.

I still hate the entire concept of the PoA explosion creating an entirely new element that somehow doesn't exist anywhere else in the known universe and that also conveniently only targets humans. Imma be pissed if this is never explained further in future media.

I don't know about the books but in the games,
I always felt like Locke was a good character In some bad writing, He is actually what all Spartan 4s should be,
And since Spartan 4s still have the ability to express emotions and all that
Spartan Locke speaks in such distinction and professional manner like any military officers would..
If he's given some good storyline in the games, I could easily see him up there with rookie and noble 6
