Storm Large has of course, a strong voice and did a very good job singing this song- not being Romanian she understood this is pure heart ache and therefore rendered it dramatically and powerfully. However, nobody can sing it with those nuances of feeling that only a Romanian can, because, as a Romanian, you have an intimate feeling of the song that truthfully, no one else can have. She could have easily sung it in an overly dramatic manner similar to Storm Large, but that would simply take away from the intricate beauty of this song, making it one dimensional. Thank you Loredana.

Storm Large is a great singer with a very powerful voice.In this however you can feel the love and misticism of the original song in Loredana's voice.It's a different interpretation, I find it more appropriate for a romanian folklore song.I'm sure Pink Martini wouldn't have chosen an unqualified voice for this.Pink Martini are not just amateurs seeking attention from romanian public.Loredana has a very powerful voice too and I am sure she could've sang this in various keys but I am sure she chose this because she felt so.Also Thank You Loredana for your ❤ of Romania!

Personally speaking, Prefer Storm Large, more powerful, penetrating and touching, and especially higher key than this lady.
The range is same for the song but the pitch is quite different. as well as composition of S L is better.
