Father in Heaven

A Priesthood Choir from Brigham Young University–Idaho sings, "Father in Heaven."

I was in this choir. I never showed up on camera because I'm 6'5" and sat on the back row. We were taught while learning the hymns that we were chosen to be a part of the choir for a reason. I now know that reason, because I always come back to this hymn when in moments of anxiety and depression. It brings peace when I need it, hope when I'm hopeless, and gratitude for when I'm strong.

I was in attendance at this session of General Conference. At the time, I was serving as a Bishop and had brought with me a young man who had been struggling with suicide. When this men’s choir sang this song, the sound and it’s message was heaven sent. There were many more voices I heard which were not part of the mortal choir. I and this brother were moved to tears. It truly was one of the most moving songs I have personally experienced. Thank you to this BYU Idaho Men’s Choir. You sang with angels this session. And you sang a strong witness of the reality of our Heavenly Father. This had an impact on my young friend, as well as with me.

We have listened to this in our home probably almost a hundred times since it came out. To me it is the perfect humble prayer of every missionary, every person who loves God and loves His children and wishes to help bring relief for the world and goodness for God’s children in every land. The power of the third verse is undeniable. The faces of these young men tells he story. I love it.

I listen to this video every night over and over again. I am so proud of this chorus!! Thank you so much for the comfort you bring. Of course the organist and director as well. Its just beautiful!
