We used to gossip about the first names. We always needed to find our one way or another and tell everyone else.
"psst hey you know ms. Smith? Ye her first name is Maria!"
"OMG no way!"

When I was in first grade, my mum didn’t like being called “ms” or “mrs” and she taught me not to call my teachers that. So on the first day of school, the teacher called herself “Mrs. ___” and I saw her ID badge hanging from her neck and I said “umm, can I call you Melissa instead” and she was like wtf??? No???

In our country we call our teacher by their first and last name

Yes, it is the proper way i think, it is very common here in the Philippines to call teachers their first name but still we have to give them some respect and call them Ma'am/Sir before their name

In Denmark, this is normal. If you went up to a Danish teacher and called them by their last name, they would give you detention.

We can only call our teachers “Mister, Miss” and that is, sometimes their nicknames but not anymore than that
