My dad was an ATC, and the stress must've been great, because every day he got home from work, his eyes would be bulging! Thankfully, he got to retire in his early 50's and has been enjoying the last 40 years of his retirement!!

To be fair, I can see why he's mad. Go arounds take average 15 min so thats 30 minutes or so delayed which means the airline might turn to him and ask why they arrived late when he didnt have any choice in the matter so I can understand him being annoyed by it

A go around task saturates Pilots. When you configure an Aircraft for an approach & landing & you suddenly have to Abort The Landing, for whatever the reason, you have to hit TOGA to Add Power, Reconfigure The Flaps, Retract The Landing Gear & a dozen other things to Go Around safely! Meanwhile you know that some of your Passengers are very uncomfortable, , , although We train for this extensively & it is safe, it's NOT something that we want to do.
I would have been angry too. I had to laugh at this audio because I have been there. You can laugh about it when it isn't effecting you I suppose. LOL

We were on an AA flight going into Syracuse...we had to go around several times before we were told they had closed the airport. We were now low on fuel and had to refuel. Flew to Albany, NY, to refuel. Had a medical emergency on board while waiting to take off for return to Syracuse. Delayed again. Tip...don't travel in the afternoons in the summertime!

One time i was in a 46 minutes flight, the climate was so foggy that we needed to go around 6 times, tried to land and like 40m from the ground the pilot canceled the landing (we were going to land out), we go back to Santiago (the start), landed on Santiago and retry the flight 3 or 4 hours latee and finally land

As a passenger I don't want ATC or my pilot to be stressed out and do something wrong. I took a flight to NY from Charlotte, NC when I won a trip. Then flew back 3 days later. Did I mention I am terrified of flying and heights? The landing into NY was rough (don't remember airport) we banked sharply and plane was shaking. You could tell we were slowing down pretty fast to line up in a hurry. Return flight was smooth but I was still a nervous wreck. ATC and Pilots work hand in hand to ensure passenger safety. Great job to you all!!!!

I fly frequently to Maui . It’s common for pilot to go around few times before landing. It did NOT take 30 minutes to turn around. Being late is better than being THE ‘LATE’ xxx.
