I saw this pop up on my recommended and as a ranga, true blue 50 year old Aussie male I thought, here we go. But surprisingly, I must say, kudos to you, this is one of the most sensible lists of advice tourists need. I think the rest just format a Chat GPT video, voice over included and post it. While us Aussies that watch it die inside, but they still get views.
Thanks, good effort from Brisbane.

We need to start a campaign to have the bin chicken as the Brisbane Olympic mascot. Bruce the bin chicken and Bazza the bull shark. Two of Brisbane's finest representatives.

Well done. I've seen do many of these timewaster videos - but this one actually has good advice.

This is definitely one of the best advice videos I've seen. Simple, to the point and true. None of the nonsense that most videos carry on with. Good job! Greetings from Adelaide.

If you are having a picnic or BBQ outdoors watch out for kookaburras. They will fly in low and fast and steal your food, even off a BBQ hotplate.

The Sunshine Coast is gorgeous. I used to live in the hinterland between Maroochydore and Maleny and absolutely loved it. I only left because of a job offer I couldn't refuse but maybe I'll get back there one day. .. With the magpies, try to make friends with them during the off season. They have good memories and tend to leave their human friends alone, No guarantees, but worth a shot.

I'm a teacher in Adelaide, Australia and we have 'bin chickens' that start rummaging around the school after hours. Schools are partytown for these birds. 😂

Some great advice!! BTW Magpies are not endangered but they are a protected native species. And to be fair to the maggie, 99% of the time they are very popular. They are incredibly smart and even get quite attached to people (no, not by the neck). They also have the most beautiful and unique song.

As an Aussie, this is all normal stuff and can't belive that ppl visiting have to deal with this! I swim outside the flags and are totaly fine, we are BUILT DIFFERENT. Also look out for our drop bears.
And my favourite Aussie slang has gotta be "Avo"
It can mean afternoon, avocado and a few other words, also sounds SUPER like other slang so it throws any non Aussie's off. Its like our own secret language, but in english!

As an Australian, I will give tourists and potential new Australians one tip.
Have a sense of humour, Australians don't take anything too seriously because life is too short to take it seriously, so just have fun because nothing else truly matters.

I’m 76 and no longer a volunteer life saver at the beach but still take an interest in it. So thanks for telling people of this most important aspect of Australian life. You briefly mentioned another thing that annoys Australians. And that is. Visitors complaining about how far away places are. They don’t understand Australia is bigger than all of Europe. Take care.

Magpies are endangered??? I don't think so.

Most dangerous of all is the 24 hour Kmart. We have one here in Wollongong. Shopping late at night with no crowds or distractions…beware.

Magpies (Australian Butcher Bird) is not endangered, but they are a legally PROTECTED species, their numbers are healthily increasing. I always go out in the morning to greet the local flock who sit on my fence and sing away. They would never swoop me (During breeding season). highly intelligent birds, they know who is friend or foe.

G’day Cobber, Regarding Australian magpies, talk to them whenever you see them as they can recognise voices and faces. If you can gain the trust of a magpie they will be frequent visitors and will introduce you to their young.

Solid tips mate. Getting bailed up by a giant aggro roo expecting tourist snacks isn't fun, but nesting magpies are arguably even less so.

Read somewhere that magpies can remember 20 (?) faces so we name our magpies and feed them to keep on their good side. Gary and Wendy usually turn up at least once a day a warble to get my attention. If I am not fast enough, I have turned around and found Gary at the back door. Obviously checking to make sure I was getting the food. PS. If you see a huntsmen inside, just give it a name and let it be. They are great fly/mozzie protection and they are all natural!
