Haze to Amaze - Abrasive Paste for Woodturning Tutorial!

preview_player
Показать описание
Using Abrasive Paste to make your wood and resin woodturnings go from Haze to Amaze. After sanding to 800 grit the resin and woodturning is soft and smooth but has a haze to it, or just is not as bright as it could be. I use an abrasive paste called Yorkshire Grit from Easy Wood Tools to finish the sanding process. This tutorial will show you the process of using Yorkshire Grit and give you the confidence to make beautiful woodturning projects. This will work on wood projects, resin or epoxy only, and resin and wood projects like I proved in this video.

Good tutorial. It's really fun watching resin go from dull to shiny; makes all the effort worthwhile.

Shiny! Or glossy. Or... obtaining a high specular reflective value. In any case, it looks rather nice, I'm sure she'll geek right inside out for that one!

It's beautiful 😍 loved the alcohol rub "sneak peek"
With the abrasive paste, what speed do you use, and do you use the same speed from start to finish?

Great video Jake. I also like Acks products for this kind of project. I think they are about the same.

Jake, you don’t feel the need to seal the wood first? I know the resin doesn’t need to be sealed, but I wonder about the wood? What do you think of Acks products?

Thanks Jake, question: did you turn that so a test tube can go in to hold water or do you feel the stabilized wood and resin is water tight for a vase?

...that turned out great!...
So I've seen turners use Yorkshire and Acks...is there a difference?
Obviously you like Yorkshire...can you tell me why?
Thanks,
Matt

Can you put other finishes over the Yorkshire Grit? Like wipe on poly?
