Thanks for the info Andy, I'll try your recipes out once I start getting low on my supplies. Might have to buy my own pan and stirrers though. I don't have a good track record when using the wifes kitchen stuff and am now banned. Getting the simple stuff can prove difficult here in Spain but I'm not willing to change that difficulty for your rain. Used to live on the Lizard way back when and the horizontal stuff is nasty.

I make larger amounts in the final vessel, a flat based tupperware . I boil water in the frying pan and float the tupperware in it. No need to clean out the frying pan.

I’ve made a couple different variations of this in the past. I made some and added some hard Carnuba wax to it and it worked pretty well. The problem I have is getting diatomaceous earth that doesn’t turn dark grey when it’s mixed in. I can’t seem to find any light stuff that won’t stain lighter woods. This is a great video for new turners and wood workers alike. Your a little easier to follow than some of the other videos on here. Hats off to ya sir.

Great recipe Andy and I can attest to it working really well.
Keeping the video so when I need to make my own.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw.

Hi Andy, good to see you hard at work, hope all is well! Great tutorial thanks mate, although I bet your Mrs is chuffed that you wrecked her best frying pan 🤣

Yup. I use the wax beads, mineral oil and diatomaceous earth. Found the wax and earth at the farm store, and oil at the drug store. But I do use the final storage container in the microwave, and use a silicone spatula for best results. No pan to clean up. The rain really sounds good. We are still short of normal, though getting a few more showers now and then.

Very useful video Andy. Easy to make and easy to get the supplies to do it. I made some 4 years ago and the beeswax was the hardest to get. A local craft store had it in blocks. It worked fine...wife did like me using her shrewder on her mixer though LOL...I did not use it.
Take care,
Gary

For a moment there I thought you were making ginger thins, then I thought wait a minute, better turn the sound on 😂 I recommend a silicone spatula for the mixing and scooping bit… gets it all out neatly 👍🏻 a shame we cannot smell the peppermint, but hey, we can hear the rain 👍🏻😂 Great video, thanks Andy, staying tuned for the ginger thins 😎😉 Byeee 👋🏻 Jude

Hi Andy: Thanks so much for the tutorial. I've tried making this (somebody else's) and mine went too hard & crumbly. To salvage the batch, would you recommend adding more mineral oil or beeswax. Hoping to salvage this. I will try your paste next. Keep the great video coming!!

What a shine! Love that stuff. It’s pretty much the formula I use and it seems to do the job. Thanks Andy! Cheers, Rick

I have thought about trying the homemade polishing paste. You make it look so simple to mix. I like the finish it gives. I love listening to the rain in the background on so many of your videos. I've picked up lots of ideas & tips from you that have helped me on my wood turning journey. Looking forward to the next one.
