Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is Youngest Woman Elected to Congress [VICTORY SPEECH]

Political newcomer and self-described democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated her Republican challenger, Anthony Pappas, on Tuesday, becoming the youngest woman elected to the U.S. Congress. Ocasio-Cortez, 29, won the Democratic nomination in an upset primary against longtime incumbent Joe Crowley over the summer. She will represent a district that includes parts of Queens and the Bronx in New York City.

She is a great and worthy winner. A tremendous candidate who deserved to win, and the fact that she did win is a ray of hope. People who denigrate her indicate more about themselves and the injustice and ignorance they serve than about her. All they have is abuse: she has principle.
