ABOUT THE GOOD PLACE
From creator Michael Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Master of None”) comes a unique comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, “House of Lies,” “Veronica Mars”), an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael (Ted Danson - “Cheers,” “CSI” - in an Emmy Award-nominated performance), she’s determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot.

This scene is even more touching when you consider that a few episodes ago, Chidi was worried that Eleanor would eventually grow bored of him after spending an eternity with him. Instead, she spends this episode having trouble letting go of him, while he is content and confident about him leaving.

“None of this is bad, ” he says, decisively.

I read Chidi's words at my sister's funeral, she was 29 and the only thing that keeps me going is knowing that water is back where it's supposed to be. Again.

This 3 minutes of television had me spiraling in ways only real life funerals can. It was unreal. I could NOT stop crying.

i’ve always had a fear of what happens after we die and stuff like that, as i’m not very religious, and in a weird way this show kind of reassured me that whatever happens, it’ll be okay. take it sleazy.

"I'm never going to be a person who can just walk through a door without knowing what's on the other side" - Chidi Anagonye

I forking love the character development in this show

I've seen alot of people say they wished the show ended on the episode before this one, and that the show should've ended with everyone happy in the good place, that it was unnecessary to show the characters final deaths. But I completely disagree, this episode rounds off the show with such a healthy and positive message regarding death. If the show ended in the episode before, the final message of the show would've been, "Hope that heaven exists because that is the only way you can achieve happiness and death should be rejected and escaped from" However with this ending, the show teaches us about how death is a natural part of existence and it shows us why death is something that we all need to come to terms with in our own ways. It depicts loss and acceptance in one of the most beautiful ways I've ever seen in any show.

I am reminded of Chidi's line when his memory was restored. Something about "I'll never be able to walk through a door without knowing what's on the other side. Even with eternity to try, I just don't think I can do it." I guess once he overcame that then he became whole.

This was so painfully beautiful. You feel like Eleanor’s losing him but really, they had their eternity. They both deserve peace now. Its just so scary to think of having to let someone go if theyre ready before you but knowing that one day you will move on too and be at peace, if not together but somehow the same way

Everybody laughs at the people who dedicate their lives to philosophy or art, joke about them having to be baristas, this is why we need to invest in these things for our children. Chidi's speech took two minutes but it summed up thousands of years of people trying to make sense of life. Those two minutes had artists, and writers, and painters all working to express one beautiful idea. I have never had a banker or a brokerage firm give my soul what this two minutes gave me.

Anyone notice Chidi, racked by doubt and indecision his whole life and afterlife, is the only one who doesn't pause, sit on the bench or require a final conversation - he just strides through happy and content with his decision

I guess what’s really bittersweet about this is that while they’re gone, really and truly gone, I took the ending to mean that they have finally returned to the universe, their energy and essence and everything that comprised them has been broken down and returned in all of its parts to the energy that made them in the first place. All of them are one and the same with the universe so, in a way, Eleanor and Chidi really are chilling out in the dot of the i forever.

Honestly as someone who has been terrified of death for a long time, the idea I might somehow feel complete and at peace with myself actually made me feel a lot better.

This finale was genius. In most stories, the finale would be the happily ever after from the previous episode, but this show knew better.

It made you almost upset that the characters ended their story getting everything they wanted. You wanted them to stay around and be happy forever, but the whole point of the previous episode is to tell us that an eternity of happiness can grow dull and lifeless.

These characters saved millions of souls, worked so hard and against all odds but still succeeded. A part of you wants them to remain in paradise, but another part knows that they deserve peace, they deserve to be let go. They deserve to finally rest.

The people in charge could have easily racked out another season just for money, but they let the show go when there was nothing left for it, just like the characters. This finale was so bittersweet and felt so complete. Everyone involved deserves an Emmy

I don’t know how else to explain this, but this whole episode gave me that empty calm soul feeling…

_Picture a wave, in the ocean._
_You can see it, measure it, its height, and the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through._

_And it’s there, and you can see it, you know what it is._
_It’s a wave._

_And then it crashes on the shore, and it’s gone._

_But the water is still there._

*The wave was just a different way for the water to be for a little while.*

*The wave returns to the ocean where it came from, and where it’s supposed to be.*

best ending for this show, just a reminder that in the end everything is fine

The last decision Chidi ever had to make, and he chose without hesitation, knowing it was the right one.

That is character development right there.

I know a lot of people didn't like this ending, but the entire series was about teaching us, the viewer, how to be a better person. The last episode was teaching us one last lesson: all things are finite. Treasure it all.
