How To Permanently Change YouTube Resolution Settings for PC & Mobile

In today's video I show you how to permanently change YouTube resolution settings for PC & Mobile as well as disable auto quality on YouTube. Typically, each time you watch a video on YouTube, the quality setting will be set to auto which is usually 480 SD resolution.

To play back in higher resolution or higher video quality setting, you will need to install Enhancer for YouTube which is a free Chrome extension. This extension allows you to set the resolution permanently for all future videos you watch in YouTube. Now on mobile devices, to watch HD high quality videos, you will need to go into settings then video quality preferences and select "higher video quality." This will force all future videos to automatically play back in HD resolution which is usually 720p. You can of course, go into quality settings and change to 1080p or 4k video quality if desired.

This extension is no longer functional due to YouTube's increased enforcement against ad blockers. Despite not utilizing the ad-blocking feature and not enabling the ad-blocking button, activating this extension causes YouTube to declare that I have enabled an ad blocker, rendering the platform unusable.

I select higher picure quality and yet it still does 480p on mobile... i have 400mbps 5g and 100mbps wifi... i have a samsung idk what the issue is i walways have to select 1080p.... man this is an annoyance.

On mobile, this solution does not always pick the highest quality available. More times than not, if I click on video quality of the video it will only be 1080p. I still have to manually select higher quality options.

Thank you for this very easy to follow and informative video. I remember I time when you would set you resolution in Youtube and it just stuck to your previous setting (they way it now does with volume). when i put it on a different quailty then auto it starts to lag but i have a 4060ti so i dont understand why it keeps lagging so i have to watch videos on less than 720p like sometimes it wants to work on higher ones but mainly doesn't let me watch them on 720p higher.

Thank you.. and in 2023 why youtube doesn't have this option? Also in 2016 the 1080HD resolution was way better than it's today don't know why.

normaly everybody wants the quality mine is on 1080 and often it causes the vid to stutter. I change it lower and the vid plays for a couple of sec. then goes back to 1080. I want to set it a 720 and have it stay there. HOW?
