A dear friend who lived to 100 shared with me (in her 70's) that her doctor advised her to stretch in bed before attempting to even get out of bed to warm up her spine but your advice is priceless! I can remember so many frenzied days while living the "daily grind" I was doing exactly the wrong thing while rushing to get going! 😘

The first thing I do before I get out of bed is stretch. I learned that from my cat. I do understand what you mean about the bending forward though. I noticed that I did that earlier when I washed my face . I corrected my posture and squeezed my wash cloth so that no water would run down my shirt and continued to wash away the soap from my face. My back felt much better and my face felt clean and smooth all day.

I've heard that working out first thing in the morning also puts your back at risk. You should wait an hour or so. That gives the discs of the back a chance to rehydrate and provide more cushion between vertebra.

Thats why my back hurt more in the
morning. Been so frustrated…. I have 3 disc.promblems in back.

Excellent advice! I walk around for about 15-20 minutes and stretch after I get up out of the bed before bending over the sink.

Yes Doc! I needed that one. I was forced to be more conscious by the pain itself. You confirmed the need for that decompression stretch first thing and then perform my routine.

So true, I learned to sit up on bed for a minute before standing due to blood flow - in the past I would get up quick sometimes bend to put socks in right away til my low back pinched then that hurt for days missed work too.
