Sadly most of the cool characters are gunna bite the dust as they are usually needed for the Day of Ascension. Most who survive are gunna be Imperial Guard recruits or PDF who get sent to a different planet in the system/across the galaxy. Other than that, usually trusted and skilled individuals will be shipped off to spread the word. An example would be in the "Day of Ascension" where the protagonist is passed on the title of Magus and sent to spread the word as she watches the Star Children descend onto her planet.

The nids also often leave nids and genestealers on the planets they just in case someone tries to resettle.

There was an episode of Hammer and Bolter that dealt with this. It shows a family trying to get their child off-world before a Tyranid invasion, but it turns out the “child” is a Genestealer and the “parents” are cultists.

Can you play as a Genestealer cultist in Rogue Trader RPG games? I think that would be interesting, knowing that behind one player's actions there is always a very specific greater motivation.

Everytime I watch a video or short about Genestealer Cults I think "Wow, maybe Kryptman had a point."

But it is interesting to see how certain Genestealer ships can actually safetly accompany Tyranid Hive Fleets. I never actually knew that, I thought any Genestealer cultists that would be near Tyranids would get eaten almost immediately. Great informative short here.

I would really like to see some lore that shows tyrannids moving some of these consciousnesses around after they’ve been consumed by hive fleets. If I remember, right, we see that happen with Nid characters like the swarm lord, right?
It’d be super cool to have a cult be in need of a mining/tunneling expert for example, then have a guy that was martyred centuries ago across the stars show up to rejoin the fight.

I can't imagine the frustration that an inquisitor have when doing this specific job, aside from the known conflicts, they'd have to detect chaos traitors, genestealer cults, and etc as, just like others, they have a planet worth of imperial citizen lives on their shoulder 😅

I love the aesthetics of the GSC but man they dont have a lot going for them which is why they might be so unpopular. Horde army, THE most expensive to collect, relatively limited model range and their lore basically says there is no "win" for them, especially if you consider that snippet of lore canon where it states theyre actually all mind controlled and when the hive fleet arrives that mind control is broken and all they feel before being assimilated is not jubilation but terror and regret. Jeez thats a raw deal.

As a cults player myself. Genestealers will actually run once the hive mind starts devouring everything else on the planet and so my patriarch is actively trying to consume a hive fleet it was sent from. Its a fun twist of arrogance i gave them so that they can fight tyranids on the table top. And my brother plays tyranids so theirs also that.

Makes sense as the Hive Fleet needs its GSC to act as an infiltration tactic alongside the usual Genestealer landing in an area where it begins its workings
