It's crazy to me that JP still is so focused on dvd/bluray sales as a metric for success. If I didn't own a PS4 I wouldn't even own a bluray player. I'm much more likely to purchase memorabilia and cool collectables over a video disc.

I think it was Kiara that mentioned once how sales of the usual merch almost directly fund the production planning of the next set of merch, which means that they can do even better and fancier ones in the future. Same applies here, but I would guess in even more toxic corpo way, because UMG.

I don't know how to tell Universal this but westerners aren't gonna fork over that much for ANY physical media other than maybe a vinyl. It's just not normal to pay more than like $40 over here for any brand new Blu ray. Concerts .... Sure, but nobody wants Blu rays or even in most cases has a player.

Honestly, this is part of the reason why I'm going all in on the upcoming HoloEN concert in the US.

Aside from being part of history AND being potentially the only time I'll ever get to go to a Hololive concert, I know that I'm helping contribute to the bottom line alongside everyone else and if that's a knockout success, then it'll get easier and easier to justify having concerts in the US and potentially more countries rather than just in Japan.

I haven't preordered mine because a lot of merch has been available around the same time, making it a lower priority compared with the other stuff. Besides, if I end up saving enough to get it I'll probably be buying last minute because I don't want to be surprised by a special special bundle with extra stuff after I place my preorder lol

Its kinda like how niche anime or the entire tokusatsu genre trying to branch out to the west (read: America) hinges on blu ray sales to promote future efforts. Its a bit of a daft system but its what Japan seems to work with.

I'm one of those ppl who loves collecting blue rays because of the physical attachment to these things. digital didn't have those feelings. not to mention it's limited and could be gone in 5 years or so, making it an artifact some sort. if u love her/holo as a whole, please do support them for atleast bought a copy instead pirates them

I understand this is coming down from universal JP. However buying a blu ray for a slightly increased chance of getting a ticket... To an event that is a 15 hour flight and £1500 away is a bit silly.

I know calli won't come to Europe, but American fans will struggle too. She has some the largest viewership on trash taste podcast, and they just did a full tour.

It's not $20 to support a show with a blu ray, it's $2000 with flights and hotels that is the hard pill to swallow.

If universal wants American money, they have to go to them. Not offer them a CHANCE to see her live and then spend an insane amount of money to make it happen.

Im definitely gonna get a copy, have everyone i was able to see live. Trying to save money for tickets to the EN concert if im lucky enough to buy them before it sells out. But ill definitely be buying it when i inevitably fail to secure tickets lol

Blu-Rays are cool. Ive got some albums with 5.1 surround mixes on Blu-Ray and the sound quality is insane.

The only blue ray player I have is from my Ps4 and I dont think any of my friends owns a blue ray either. Most westerners dont buy physical copies compared to Japan. We do buy vinyls for collection but also a starting price of $70 makes it a pretty steep price to pay. At that price people are usually buying from very popular bands and singers like Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and Gorrilaz. And they are buying it as collection with the inclusion of several other medias instead of just a blue ray. The re-sale value of these are crazy going for $2k for collectors. Then again these singers and bands have been going for years of reputation and a big fan base.

i would totally buy a digital version but a physical version at 70$ + shipping (especially where i live) when the only blu-ray player i have its ps3 with a broken gamepad, its something that makes you think twice. I belive i will eventually buy it (when i get another gamepad) but i doubt that i will be albe to pre-order it

Going corporate can enable a lot of things. Too bad that the price is so high you have to pay international shipping.

I want Mori to succeed but buying a bluray is a tough sell.
