Blackstone 22' - How to Season Blackstone Griddle

Seasoning your New Blackstone Griddle is paramount to the life of your cooking surface. If you season your griddle properly, it will be non-stick and well protected from the elements. We have seen a lot of pics and videos of people having trouble with a cracking or chipping seasoning layer on their griddle top. Using Flax Seed oil is the best option. Flax Seed oil doesn't have the highest smoke point, and honestly isn't that great to cook with, BUT in the case of the VERY FIRST SEASONING LAYER... its the best because of its hardening agents. It will give you a very sturdy and hard bottom layer that will last WAYYY longer than other oils and fats... speaking of fat... DONT USE BACON FAT for your first seasoning layer. Animal Fats have the tendency to breakdown and cause a dry and brittle surface layer. By all means, cook 30 pounds of bacon after its seasoned... just don't do that the very first time you cook on this gorgeous Blackstone Griddle.
