Batman, being the incredibly popular superhero he is, has been involved in countless law suits and legal battles. There was the time DC Comics was sued by a town in Turkey that is actually named Batman. Or the time Rihanna tried to trademark the name "Robyn" which DC feared would confuse fans of the Dark Knight and Robin the Boy Wonder. Joel explores these dumb Batman lawsuits and more on this week's Super Suits!

The comic book industry is filled with endless lawsuits and legal issues. Thankfully, Caped-Joel is here to walk us through some of the fun, complicated, and ridiculous court cases involving our favorite comic book characters!

I really thought the Batman V Rihanna case was gonna be about her song "What's My Name" because the chorus has Na Na Na

I'm no legal expert by any means, but if the Rihanna vs. DC Comics lawsuit hasn't been settled yet, I don't think DC should/will win because the spellings of Robin and Robyn are different. And if someone gets a comic book character confused with a real-life singer, I don't know what to say for him or her.

However. I think there is another real-life singer who goes by the name Robyn, so Rihanna might not be able to trademark Robyn for herself.

Relly a town named Batman! If I become rich one day I'll move there and build a 1:1 replica of the batcave.

DC should have been given ownership of the town. Its only fair.

Fun Fact: the City of Melbourne in Victoria Australia was founded by one John Batman in 1835. Bonus Fact: due to this Melbourne could have been called Batman City

DC is far too lawsuit-happy. Considering the fact that Robin was the name of a bird and the name of actual people long before the sidekick was ever created (that is where his name came from in the first place), DC is destined to lose that one, unless they get a really stupid judge (or bribe him).

As a superhero in training, I endorse the town of Batman.

The mayor of Batman, Turkey was probably trying to bring awareness to his newly named town, by filing a lawsuit that he knew wouldn't go anywhere, in order to boost tourism. He probably thought if he made the name of his town known, that batman fans would flock there from all over the world to visit a town that shares a name with their favorite superhero.

*conspiracy confirmed*

For decades there was a diner on the Gold Coast (Queensland) called the Bat Cafe. It was, needless to say, a Batman themed establishment featuring burgers, pizzas and milkshakes all with names coined from characters of the series. When Warner Bros. Movie World opened on the Gold Coast, the owner of the establishment got in contact with them thinking he could work side by side with WB. Instead - and some might say rightly - WB sued the owner and took him to court. The whole incident was a sour note to locals who viewed the Bat Cafe as a great success story, the whole incident even got TV time. In the end instead of working with the locals, WB turned on them and the Bat Cafe is no more.
