Thank you so much, I was trying to find videos and even in full-stack to solve this problem, I installed IntelliJ and I think I might have changed my projects path so I didn't know what to do and I remember adding a .bin so I removed that when I went to environment variables and also did what you did for JAVA_HOME. I got my project back up and running and I can rest easy! Thank you so much!

Remarkably to me, the IBM Z Open Editor extension could not find the existing JAVA_HOME environment variable on my machine, and informed me it needed to be set. Or that I needed to set the java.home setting in VSCode. I couldn't find anywhere how to set the java.home setting in today's version of VSCode (in June, 2023). Ultimately, searching settings for java, it gave me an input box to enter the JAVA_HOME setting for Zopeneditor. After completing that, it still couldn't find Java. This video showed me how to verify the setting in the json file of settings for VSCode. It was there at the bottom. My guess is I forgot to walk backwards around my chair (AKA shut-down, restart) after I entered the value specifically for Zopeneditor. But I greatly appreciate this video for showing me how to get to those settings. Why the environment variable doesn't work is still a mystery, but I should be able to move on now. Thank you!
