I’m coming from a 20 year old 5.1 Bose surround system. I recently purchased a Sonos Arc with surrounds and two subwoofers…night and day! Sound bars have come a LONG WAY! Sonos recently updated their software and I’m absolutely BLOWN away! Only concern for me is the Dolby atmos sound, it doesn’t appear (as yet) to be quite impactful…I’m still toying with the “height” volume. When Sonos releases surrounds with upward firing speakers (for Dolby atmos), I do believe that they’ll have carved out and perfected the sound bar market! The sound is truly impressive and immersive. Lastly, the $$ I spent on the Bose 20 Years ago was more than I paid for Sonos system…and Sonos is wireless!! I’m here for it Sonos!

The Nakamichi ultra is outstanding with a big sound. You will definitely get your moneys worth and so much more without breaking the bank... It's so powerful that it scares you with the bass it punches

I had the Sonos Arc with One XL Surrounds and Sub, was not happy with it. Voice and big sounds did not balance. Always playing with adjustments and volume. I swapped my Sonos for Samsungs Q990-B and was EXTREMELY happy. Prob the best system out there now.

I've had several soundbars and surround sound package but it was only when I purchased a budget AVR and a pair of budget speakers that I realised what I was missing, (stereo imaging, thumping bass plus a fully enveloping soundstage imaging etc) besides going down this route one can always add to it overtime... surround speakers, subwoofers one can even get height speakers and have the full non virtual Dolby Atmos experience. Nowadays AVRs has so simple to setup they even walk you through the process.

Remember movies are made up of 50% visuals and 50% audio and there are occasions when the audio out does the visuals.

i have the sonos arc soundbar and i love it. the voices and action scenes sometimes dint balance out but that is true for every sound system i have ever had. it is a wonderful soundbar and frankly was the best one out of every soundbar i tries.i will be getting the sonos 3 sub next year.

I just replaced my LG sound bar and subwoofer that I got in 2014 with a JBL sound bar and subwoofer, I had my my LG speaker system for almost nine years and it severed me well. Now I have the JBL Deep base 2.1 sound bar with the subwoofer, the only thing I miss about my old speaker system is that it was a LG and my tv is too so when I turn the tv on the speaker system came on too.
