Good stuff Natalie. You are my new beekeeping Guru.

I look forward to the rest of this series. You are right about a queenless hive being loud. I'm new to beekeeping this year and unfortunately let my hive swarm. There are queen cells in there so it will work out eventually but they were definitely noisy when I inspected them yesterday. Also they were quite testy and annoyed even though it was a beautiful bright warm clear day.

My hives are full of drones too. I have made 4 splits out of a single double deep brood box already to grow the apiary plus a swarm. Like Don said you're doing fine and what ever works for you. That's smart to see if they will build cells. I hope our children have interest in the bees like you do. Thanks Natalie.

Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to you next video because I want to attempt to make a couple queens this year and I am interested to see how you do it. I made one last year by letting them build a swarm cell (I thought they were superseding the queen) and I got two queens. It was good because I lost one queen to the winter, so now I am back to 3 queens for three hives.

Awesome! You’ll get better at shaking soon. It just takes a little practice and patience.

I saw you move the contents. You pointed out larva, so they had a queen, why move to a new box?

Natalie, there was nothing wrong with the way that you shake bees off of a frame!
