Brilliant tips. In such a short video I was thrilled to discover some new short cuts. Dragging a new color onto a global swatch was a new one for me. Goodness me! All this time I had never known... Thank you very much indeed for anther excellent Illustrator tutorial.

No idea why you can't use Hex code/color pick when it's a global color when it works for normal swatches just fine... Thanks for this workaround.

Thank you This is very cool! - but it's amazing how Illustrator does not let you use the colour dropper from within the palette dialogue. Their UX has really fallen behind in some areas compared with new apps.

Is there a way to rename swatches across multiple files? I work with a major athletic brand who uses custom color names. If I had, say, 50 files open, is there a way to rename the swatches in one file and have it affect the rest of the files?

IMPORTANT: this also works if you drag from the basic foreground color square!!!

when i click a color from the swatch palette, it fills the entire board with the color. What am I doing wrong?
