THANK YOU VERY MUCH "ACTION KID" FOR THIS VIDEO OF ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES !!!! BACK DURING THE EARLY 1980'S I USED TO WORK AT "ALEXANDERS" DEPARTMENT STORE AT QUEENS BLVD. AND 63RD DRIVE. AFTER WORK WE WOULD OFTEN EAT AT THAT GREAT PORTOFINO RESTARAUNT. THE FOOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT. THE BIG DIFFERENCE IS THAT BACK THEN THE PRICES WERE VERY INEXPENSIVE. BUT AFTER A HORRIBLE FIRE IN THE EARLY 1990'S THE PRICES BECAME VERY EXPENSIVE. THE SUPERMARKET " S.S. NATIONAL " IS FANTASTIC !!!! THEY SELL BOTH ORGANIC AND NON ORGANIC FRUITS AND VEGETABLES . THE FOOD SELECTIONS ARE GREAT AND VERY DIVERSE !!!! THE AUSTIN STREET SHOPPING AREA IS EXCELLENT , DESPITE THE LOSS OF MANY DIVERSE BUSINESSES OVER THE YEARS SUCH AS THE BARNES AND NOBLE BOOK STORE, JOHNNY ROCKETS RESTARAUNT , "STAPLES" OFFICE SUPPLIES , "SUBWAYS" SANDWICH STORE , "COLDSTONE" ICE CREAM AND "BUFFALO WILD WINGS" . I LOVED THE T.V. COMMERCIAL WITH THE "KARATE KID" FILM VILLAIN ACTOR WILLIAM ZABKA. I PLAN TO VISIT AND SHOP AT THE AUSTIN STREET AREA AGAIN IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE !!!! ESPECIALLY AT "VITAMIN SHOPPE" !!!!
