This is the most supportive people in the world!! Usually in movie like this, people start to turn on each other.

I love all the little moments in this scene that help humanize the characters. Ben commenting on how bad the choice of music is, Mike being the one to point out the eight ball is missing and the connection between the sliding puzzle and the billiard balls, and later helping steady Ben after he jumps over the gap so he doesn't crash into the wall (unintentionally repaying the favor of Ben preventing him from falling into the first hole that appeared), and his later comment of "the craftmanshipin here is just terrifying. I hate this room so much." Amanda complaining about how her hands are wet from the ice room, Ben's banter with Mike about Mike's first obvious lock combination guesses, Mike helping Zoey reach the sliding puzzle - I just love all these characters so damn much, and all the tiny moments put into the scene.
(though admittedly, Amanda and Zoey are the true stars of this scene in many ways)

Fun Fact: The song playing says "listen to the music" and then gives them specific instruction on how they should not stand on the floor and what to do to escape. Cool little easter egg.

This is some really, _really_ good acting right here. I fully believe that all these characters are real human beings in a survival situation - not melodramatic caricatures, not ironic victims meticulously hand-picked for their single overblown character flaw, actual human beings in an actual situation. They crack jokes exactly enough to feel like they're breaking in-universe tension without detracting from the tone of the scene. They speak in the exact ways that people in stressful situations do - the little filler sounds, the focus on problem-solving to avoid thinking about the danger, the attempts to stifle their own panic in order to keep up morale, all of it without feeling like they're perfect plot devices or total morons. I haven't seen the movie, but if the rest of it has that quality, I might need to.

Love how Amanda knew to trust Jason to catch the ball soon as they knew her floor was gonna go. They’ve all just met each other but they’ve sized each other up and know who to rely on for quick thinking and least likely to panic here

This is probably one of my favourite rooms. Although it’s super scary and stressful, I like the concept and design of this room. Especially how whenever the phone makes a beeping noise, the floor collapses.

First off, I would like to say that Deborah Ann woll has a great range as an actress. I loved her on the daredevil TV series. Second off (lol) this movie is like if Cube, The cabin in the woods and final destination had a baby with no monsters. Love it. Instant cult classic status for me.

Escape Room is a horror film that falls a bit short, as it's not scary, but it has excellent characters. They are human, their expressions, conversations and the way they react are exactly how someone in real life would react in that situation.
