Patrick Wayne's first major speaking role in "The Searchers", alongside his father John Wayne and veteran actor Ward Bond.

Patrick Wayne:

„I have made a few film appearances and spoken a line or two before „The Searchers”. But this was really the first big, mouthful of dialogue that I had on camera. It was unnerving with all those professionals standing around – most prominently my dad. He was a large, looming figure. He was a huge presence, he demanded respect and that you keep attention to him. And the director was my godfather. I wanted them to be proud of me. I didn't want them to be ashamed or dissapointed. None of the interruptions were in the script. Whatever word my dad broke in, it was ad-libed. I've been plowing through, because I didn't know what else to do. But that had been Ford's plan all along.”

Just watched this movie! This scene had me giggling throughout, alongside the later gimmick with his sword. The added context it was all ad-libbed makes it even better! Haha
