Greece continues to deny Turkish identity in Western Thrace

Greek authorities have approved a report which categorised minorities in the Thrace region as Pomaks, Romanian and those who were Turkish ‘in origin’. Referring to them as just “Turkish” was avoided. #Greece #Turkishcommunity #WesternThrace

2. If you want to talk about the Treaty of Lasaunne, why Imbros and Tenedos aren't autonomous as the Treaty says? Why Constantinople has only 2000 Greeks? Why Turkey take Hatai from French Mandate of Syria in 1938? Why Turkey invaded Syria and Iraq and bombarded Armenia? Why Turkey have claims and invaded Cyprus in 1974?

The Muslim minority in Western Thrace has been part of the Lausanne treaty where Greece promised to take care of the Muslim residents remaining within her borders. Likewise, Turkey promised to take care of the Greeks in Istanbul/Imbros/Tenedos. After the pogroms in 1950s the population shrinked to a mere thousand / couple thousands. On the other side, the muslim minority (which is not strictly turkish but contains other ethnicities as well) has flourished to 100.000k+. Meanwhile, Turkish politicians themselves have decade after decade agreed that the treatment of the greek population was criminal.

About the MUSLIM minority. Based on this treaty, Turkey was obligated to protect the Greek minority in Constantinople, Imbros and Tenedos Islands which was excluded from the population exchange agreement and Greece its Muslims minority, which was never considered as Turkish but Muslim. Exactly after Turkey signed the Treaty of Luasanne, they violated it with the law number 2007 1932, where the non-Turk population (mainly 360.000 Greeks, one third of Constantinople's population) should stop working on various of jobs. In 1942 with the varlik vergisi tax, a tax as high as the value of an average house, a law only for non-Turks, after the properties of Greeks were taken, they were sent to concentration camps in Erzurum. The administration of Imbros and Tenedos islands, 95% populated by Greeks in 1922, should be done exclusively only by Greeks based on the treaty of luasanne. Never happened, now they are less than 5% of total islands' population. On pogroms of 1955, 4.000 houses, 2.500 shops, 250 greek churches of Greeks were destroyed. In 1964 the remained population of 150.000 Greeks were persecuted and now they are only 600 from 360.000. Also after Imia in 1996, Turkey directly threatened Greek islands, so the militarization of Greek islands is justified. Turkey doesn't have only rights but responsibilities as well, so don't use only what Greece should do to justify your actions. Besides that Turkey still owes compensations to the Greeks their properties were looted, stolen, destroyed and vandalized all these decades. Now there 120.000 Muslims in Greece and 600 Christian Greeks in Turkey.

This is literally assimilation, if the Ottomans, that ruled over the Greece 500 years, did same thing to Greece they would not even remember their language or culture. Ottoman Empire was a vast Empire with many cultures religions and peoples, The Muslims of western Thrace were one of those group's of peoples, modern day Turkey was funded in 1923, how are this people Turkish? They were part of the Ottoman empire and so were the Greeks, so leave this people alone they are not Turkish they are Muslim Greeks go pick on the Bosnia's TRT.
